IR Energy-Saving Power Strip
Item-No. 61 14 81
Intended Use
The IR-energy-saving power strip is intended for reducing the power consumption.
The energy-saving power strip is equipped with 4 switchable outlets and 1 non-switchable
outlet.
The energy drawing devices connected to the switchable sockets can be activated or deactivat-
ed manually, using a button on the power strip. or via your conventional infrared remote control.
After a maximum of 60 seconds the power strip will then turn off and it sets itself to the remote
mode. While it is in remote mode, the power strip only consumes < 0.7 Watt.
The IR energy-saving power strip is only suitable for use in dry indoor locations.
Any use other than that described above is not permitted and may harm the product and result
in short circuits, fire, etc. The product must not be modified or converted. Always observe the
safety instructions included in these operating instructions. Read the operating instructions care-
fully and keep them for later reference.
Package Contents
• IR energy-saving power strip
• Operating Instructions
Explanation of the Symbols
The lightening symbol in a triangle is used to alert you to potential risks for person-
al injury, such as electric shock.
This symbol, with an exclamation mark in a triangle, indicates particular dangers
associated with handling, function or operation.
The „Hand" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequen-
tial damage!
We do not accept any liability for personal injury or damage to property
caused by incorrect handling or non-observance of the safety instructions.
The warranty will be void in such cases.
• The product must not be modified or converted, as not only the CE approval will
become void but also the warranty.
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations,
humidity or heavy mechanical stress.
• When the product is taken from a cold to a warm room (e.g. during transport), con-
densation may be produced. This could damage the product. There is also the
danger of a fatal electric shock! Therefore, you should allow the product to warm
to room temperature, before use or connecting the power supply to an electrical
socket. This may take several hours.
• Electronic devices are not toys and should be kept out of the reach of children!
• Please contact a qualified personnel if you are unsure about the safety or the cor-
rect use of the product.
• Never leave the packaging material lying around unattended. Plastic film/bags
etc. can be dangerous playthings for children, there is a risk of suffocation.
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, discon-
nect the device immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation.
• The product is intended for use in dry interiors, it must not get damp or wet. This
could not only destroy the product but it also presents a mortal hazard through an
electric shock!
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or acciden-
tal drops, even from a low height.
• Never place any containers containing liquids, such as buckets, vases or plants,
in the direct vicinity of the product. Liquids may seep into the casing and thus
impair the electrical safety of the device. Furthermore, there is a significant risk of
fire or of a lethal electric shock! In such an event, isolate the mains socket, to
which the product is connected (e.g. switch off the automatic fuse), and unplug
the wall plug transformer from the socket. Afterwards, the product can no longer
be used; take it to a specialist workshop.

Using for the first time / Programming your infrared remote control
• Connect up to 5 energy drawing devices to the energy-saving power strip.
• Turn off the energy drawing devices manually, using the power button.
• Connect the energy-saving power strip to a mains socket (230V/AC, 50 Hz). The blue „Status-
LED" (C) flashes to provide visual indication that the energy-saving power strip is set to learn-
ing mode for programming an infrared remote control.
• Position the infrared receiver (D) on a flat, grease free, surface where it is easily visible in front
of or next to your energy drawing device (e.g. TV set).
• Turn on your energy drawing device manually using its mains switch.
• Direct the infrared remote control to the „infrared receiver" (D) and keep any key on the infrared
remote control pressed in, until the „Status-LED" (C) is lights continuously.
• Set all connected energy drawing device to the standby mode.
• Wait at least 30 seconds.
• Press the „ON/OFF" button (C). The „Status-LED" (C) then goes out.
• The programming is now complete.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are
to be observed.
• Do not cascade the product (do not plug several energy-saving outlets one after
the other).
• Only use a standard power socket (with protective earth wire) connected to the
public power supply (230V~/50Hz) to power the product.
• Never plug in or unplug the product with damp or wet hands. Nor should you plug
or unplug the power plug for your energy drawing device with damp or wet hands
either.
• Maintenance, adjustment and repair may only be carried out by a qualified spe-
cialist or a specialised repair shop.

our technical service or another specialist.
For connecting your energy drawing device (e.g. TV set, DVD player etc.). These outlets can
be operated either by using the „ON/OFF" (C) button or via the infrared remote control. To
do so, the infrared remote control has to be programmed first, so it is recognised by the pow-
er strip.
This outlet is activated permanently.
Using the „ON/OFF" button the „switchable outlets „ (A) can be activated or deactivated. The
function of the status LED is explained in relevant parts of this operating manual.
The infrared receiver is used to program your infrared remote control (e.g. TV set remote
control). Furthermore, the infrared receiver receives the signals from your remote control
and thus makes it possible for you to switch your TV set on or off, via the remote control.
Please make sure that the „infrared receiver" (D) is placed visibly in front of
or next to your energy drawing device (e.g. TV set). If the infrared receiver is
positioned poorly, there may be difficulties with reception during transmis-
sion between the infrared remote control and „infrared receiver" (D).
In order to secure the device, there is a double-sided adhesive foil on the rear
of the „infrared receiver" (D). Pull off the protective foil and make sure you
fasten the „infrared-receiver" (D) on to a dry and grease free surface.
If new energy drawing devices are connected, keep the button „ON/OFF" (C)
pressed in for 4 seconds. This deletes all of the settings.
Program the remote control again.
