Function of the motion detector
The PIR sensor built into the motion detector reacts to temperature changes in the de-
tection range, e.g. when a person, animal or car enters the range whose temperature
is different than that of the background.
In order to afford maximum detection, the product should be positioned in such a way
that the object to be detected does not walk towards the motion detector but crosses
the detection range from left to right or vice versa. Keep that in mind when installing
the product. The horizontal detection range is 160°.
You can adjust the detection range by turning/tilting.
The detection range can be limited by covering the motion detector's plastic lens with a
piece of non-transparent tape.
The range for detecting temperature changes within the detection range depends on
the following:
• The motion detector's installation height (recommendation: 2 to 2.5 m)
• The difference in temperature between the moving object and the background (sur-
roundings)
• The size of the moving object
• The distance of the object to the motion sensor
• The object's direction of motion and speed
• Ambient temperature (e.g. summer, winter)
Please note that detecting temperature changes through glass is not pos-
sible.
In winter, the motion detector's functionality may be limited e.g. as persons
are well insulated by winter clothing.
Similar problems can be expected in summer in the event of high ambient
temperatures. Then, there is only a small difference in temperature between
human skin and the sunlit detection range.
Preparing installation
• Make sure to install the LED floodlight in the correct position. It must be installed
with the motion detector on the bottom.
• Install the LED floodlight to a stable surface only, e.g. brickwork. Use screws and
wall anchors that are suitable for the installation surface.
• Install the LED floodlight out of reach of children.
• Keep the immediate surroundings in mind when determining the installation height.
• The LED floodlight must be protected via an on-site sub-distribution unit with a 10/16
A fuse. Install a residual current operated circuit breaker in front of the fuse.
• The product must be completely free of voltage for installation. It is not sufficient to
turn off the light switch!
Disconnect the power cable at all poles from the power supply by removing the
appropriate circuit fuse or switching off the circuit breaker. Secure them against
unauthorized restart, e.g. by installing a warning sign.
• Use a suitable measurement device to check the power cable for absence of volt-
age.

Installation

• Remove both cap nuts and the rubber sealing rings from the screws.
• Remove the round plastic wall bracket from the back of the metal housing.
• Guide the power cable through the rubber sealing of the wall bracket and attach the
wall bracket to the wall using two screws and, if necessary, two wall anchors.
Make sure you install the plastic wall bracket in the correct position! An ar-
row marking "  UP" inside the wall bracket must point vertically upward in
order for the LED floodlight to be installed correctly.
When drilling and tightening the screws, make sure no cables or wires are
damaged.
• Connect the power cable to the screw terminals inside the LED floodlight (brown
cable = L/phase, blue cable = N/neutral conductor, yellow-green cable = PE/protec-
tive ground conductor/grounding symbol).
• Fasten the power cable in the wall bracket using the cable relief.
• Attach the LED floodlight correctly to the wall bracket. The PIR motion detector must
point down vertically. Make sure not to damage the wiring.
• Attach the LED floodlight to the wall bracket using the previously removed cap nuts.
Do not forget to first replace the rubber sealing ring before the cap nut.
• Turn on the power supply. The LED floodlight activates for a few seconds. When the
light turns off, the LED floodlight is operational.
Motion detector settings
• Setting switch-on time ("TIME" knob)
Use this knob to set the switch-on time (approx. 5 seconds to 7 minutes). Turn the
control knob to the left to reduce switch-on time, turn the knob to the right to in-
crease it.
If the LED floodlight has been activated and the motion detector senses another
change in temperature in the detection range during the switch-on time, the switch-
on time will start again.
The LED floodlight turns off only when no additional changes in temperature are
sensed during the switch-on time.
• Setting the brightness ("LUX" knob)
Use this knob to set the switching threshold above which the motion detector is
operational and the LED floodlight activates.
Turn the knob to the right toward the moon icon to activate the motion detector in
darker surroundings. Turn the knob to the left toward the sun icon to activate the
motion detector in brighter surroundings.
• Aligning the motion detector
The motion detector beneath the LED floodlight can be aligned horizontally and ver-
tically to change the detection range. The detection range can be further limited by
covering the part of the motion detector's plastic lens with a piece of non-transpar-
ent tape.
Maintenance and care
• The LED floodlight does not require maintenance. The LEDs are permanently in-
stalled and non-replaceable. Maintenance or repairs may be carried out by a pro-
fessional only.
• Clean the exterior of the LED floodlight using a clean, soft, dry cloth only. Do not
use any aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions as these may damage
the housing causing discoloration and/or malfunction. To remove tougher stains,
slightly dampen the cloth with lukewarm water.
• Do not apply too much pressure to the housing or light cover to prevent any scratch-
ing.
• Never point water from a garden hose or high-pressure cleaner etc. at the LED
floodlight!
Disposal
Do not dispose of electrical and electronic products with your household
waste!
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with ap-
plicable regulatory guidelines.
