Connect your WatchGuard® XCS
• Rack mount the device in a secure location.
• C onnect a monitor and a keyboard to the connectors located on the back panel of the
device.
• C onnect the appliance directly to the LAN (Local Area Network) using the first onboard
Ethernet connector on the left side of the back panel.
• Connect the power cord to the power socket on the back panel of the device.

Console Installation
• P ower on your device. After the system has booted, startup options are displayed on
the monitor.
• S elect F2, and then select OK.
NOTE: The F2 option is chosen by default after a few seconds.
• Select the Auto installation type. The file system is installed.
• Select OK to begin the Network configuration.
• E nter the Network Settings using the information from your checklist in Step 2, then
select OK.
NOTE: At this point you only need to enter the network information for your LAN network connection to be
able to connect to the device via a web browser in the following steps.
• Select a Region, Country and Time zone.
• T he initial console configuration is now complete and the system console screen is
displayed. You must now connect to the system using a web browser to continue with
the remainder of the installation.
NOTE: After the console installation completes, the system displays a message warning that the "Mail System
is stopped". This is normal. The Mail Delivery Settings must be configured before you start the mail system.
