ART-DUALZDirect Passive DI Box
Item no. 40 88 62
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements.
Intended use
The passive DI box is used to adapt high-resistance audio outputs to low-resistance inputs of audio devices.
The inputs and outputs may only be connected to the connections of audio devices.
The device is passive which means it does not require any power supply.
The product may only be used in enclosed indoor locations, never outdoors. Contact with moisture, for
example in bathrooms, must be avoided.
Any use, other than that described above, may lead to damage to this product and involves other risks, such
as short circuit, fi re and electric shock.
No part of the product may be modifi ed or rebuilt.
The safety instructions have to be followed without fail.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions. We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage.
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by incorrect
handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases, the warranty will
be null and void.
In the operating manual, an exclamation mark inside a triangle indicates important
instructions.
• For safety reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cation of the product is not permitted.
• Keep electrical devices out of the reach of children. For this reason, be particularly careful when using the
device in the presence of children. They may try to stick objects into the device, through openings in the
housing.
• Do not expose the device to high temperatures, dripping or spraying water, strong vibrations or heavy
mechanical stress.
• Do not use the device in a tropical climate.
• Never position vessels or containers containing liquids, such as buckets, vases or plants on top of the
product or in its vicinity. Liquids could enter the inside of the housing. If this should happen, the product
must not be operated any longer. Take it to a specialist workshop.
• Do not place open sources of fi re such as burning candles on the appliance.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. It may become a dangerous plaything for chil-
dren.
• If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to connect it safely, consult a
trained technician.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's Liability Insurance
Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Facilities are to be observed.
• If in doubt about how to connect the product correctly, or should any questions arise that are not answered
in these operating instructions, please contact our technical service or another specialist.
Features
• Passive 2-channel DI box
• High-quality audio transmitter with wide and linear frequency response
• Converts high-resistance, unbalanced instrument outputs into balanced low-resistance outputs in order to
directly connect e.g. instruments to a mixer input
• Due to the low-resistance output impedance and the balanced design, the interference of the audio trans-
mission is lower and it is possible to transfer the audio signal over longer distances in a fail-safeef manner
and without loss
• Ground lift switch with complete ground breaking between audio input and audio output / casing ground to
avoid ground loops
• Low pass fi lter to prevent high-frequency interferences
• Phase switch for the output
• Switchable input sensitivity
• Solid and stable metal housing
Connections and Control Elements
This DI box has 2 independent channels. Thus, the connections and controls are provided twice and they
control the respective channel (channel 1 and channel 2).
This operating manual does not explain each channel individually as the functions of both channels are
identical.

Set-up
Select a level, fl at and stable mounting location.
Protect valuable furniture surfaces by using an appropriate underlay; otherwise, it may cause scratches.
Connection
• Connect the output from your audio source (e.g. electric guitar) to the INPUT (3).
• If you want to connect the original signal of your audio source to another device, connect the input of this
device to the THRU (4). The THRU terminal (4) is connected in parallel to INPUT (3).
• Connect OUTPUT (7) to the input of the upstream audio device (e.g. mixer).
Operation
• Adjust the input sensitivity of the DI box to the output level of your source device using the ATTENUATOR
switches (1):
No switch is pressed
One switch is pressed
Both switches are pressed
• If required, activate the low-pass fi lter by pressing the FILTER switch (2). This will attenuate interference
signals with a frequency above 30 kHz via a Bessel fi lter.
• If interferences caused by ground loops occur during the audio transmission, press the GROUND switch
(5). In the GND position, the signal ground is connected to the device's ground and the ground of the out-
put signal. In the LIFT position, the signal ground is disconnected from the device's ground and the ground
of the output signal.
• The phase position of the output signal can be rotated by 180° using the PHASE switch (6).

Switch position INVERT
Maintenance and Cleaning
Please use a soft, dry, clean cloth for cleaning.
Do not use any chemical cleaning agents, as they can discolour the plastic casing.

Always use suitably shielded audio cables to connect inputs and outputs. Use of other
cables may lead to interference.
To avoid distortions or mismatching that could damage the unit, the inputs and outputs
must only be connected to devices with XLR or jack plug terminals.
The pin assignment of the connection sockets is imprinted on the device.
