For changing the current frequency norm, please hold the channel 9 priority key (20) [CH9/19]
approx. 3 seconds. The number of the current frequency norm is blinking, all other symbols
disappear. Select the norm with the channel 9 priority key (20) and confirm your selection by
turning the radio off and on again or wait for approx. six seconds until the radio automatical-
ly returns to operation mode.
Regarding the permissions and restrictions of the individual norms in the various european
countries, please check the radio passport, which is included in the scope of delivery. The
user is solely responsible for the selection of the permissible norm in country of operation.
Transmitting
To transmit, depress and hold the key (4) [ PTT ] on the microphone (1). On the LCD, the
symbol TX appears, and the bar meter at the bottom of the display shows the relative trans-
mit signal strength. For best quality, speak normally at a distance of 2-4 inches. Speaking too
loud will cause distortions and make the signal difficult to understand. While the set is in the
transmit mode there is no key entry possible and the receiver is muted. On completion of the
transmission release the PTT key (4) and the set will revert to receiving mode.
Call tone
If you press the transmit key (4) [ PTT ] and the call key (5) [ SIGNAL ] on the microphone (1)
at the same time, a call tone will be transmitted and will be heard by other radios that operate
on the same channel and modulation type.
CTCSS
This function is only available in FM mode.
The function CTCSS (Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System) filters a selection of certain
radios within a selected channel. When transmitting, a low tone (67 -300 Hz), the CTCSS
code is also sent. This CTCSS code controls the squelch of the receiving radio. Only if the
transmitted CTCSS-Tone matches the CTCSS-tone of the receiver, the squelch opens and
the transmitted signal can be heard.
By default, no CTCSS code is assigned to a FM-channel. To set a CTCSS code to a FM-
channel please follow these instructions:
1. Select the FM-channel that a CTCSS code should be assigned to.
2. Hold the LCR key [ LCR ] (11) for approx. 3 seconds until the CTCSS symbol in the display
starts blinking.
3. Assign one of the 39 available CTCSS codes (0 - 39; 0 = no code selected) with the channel
selector [ CH ] (9) or [ p ] (2) and [ q ] (3).
4. To confirm your selection press the LCR key (17) shortly. The CTCSS symbol stops blinking.
18
Last channel recall [ LCR ]
Press the LCR-key (17) [ LCR ] shortly to recall the prior channel and modulation selection.
The actual channel and modulation type will be stored temporarily in a register. If you push
the LCR-key (17) [ LCR ] once again, the unit will skip back to the previously selected chan-
nel and modulation type stored in the register.
Priority Channel 9 / 19 [ CH9/19 ]
The TruckerCom contains the priority channels 9 and 19. Priority channel 9 is selected by pres-
sing the key (20) [ CH9/19 ] once. To set priority channel 19, press the key (20) [ CH9/19 ] twice.
When a priority channel is set, the channel and the frequency will blink in the display and all func-
tion keys including the rotary channel selector are disabled. Only transmission and activation of
the VOX function are possible. To return to the previous channel, press the key (20) [ CH9/19 ]
once, if priority channel 9 has been selected, or twice, if priority channel 19 has been set. Once
returned to regular mode, all functions will be enabled again.
Scan [ SC ]
The scan function searches the set frequency band for signals. Since this function does not work
with an open squelch, set the squelch control (8) [ ASQ ] according to parapraph Squelch befo-
re activating the scan function.
Press the scan key (15) [ SC ] briefly to start the channel scan. Now, the channels are sear-
ched in increasing, consecutive order. During scanning the symbol SC appears on the LCD
screen. The scan function stops once a signal, which is strong enough to open the squelch,
is detected.
To stop scanning before a signal has been found, press the scan key (15) [ SC ] once again
or turn the rotary channel selector (9) [ CH ] or press any other function key.
Once scanning has stopped, the scan symbol SC in the display will disappear.
There are three types of scanning modes available: 1. All Channels, 2. Block and 3. Skip.
The type All Channels is preset and not indicated in the display. The mode Block is indicated
by the symbol SB and the mode Skip by the symbol SK. To switch between these three scan
modes, you have to press the SC key [ SC ] (14) each time for approx. 3 seconds.
scan - block
The scan block function allows selective scanning of 10 consecutive channels, e.g. channel
17-26. This allows you to quickly find an occupied channels in this narrowed-down channel
group.
Set the scan mode Block and select the first of the 10 channels to be scanned.
To stop/start the scan function, press the scan key SC (15) shortly.
To select a different block of channels, select the first channel with the channel selectors and
push the scan key SC shortly. Scanning will start from the newly selected channel.
scan - skip channel
It is possible to exclude or skip one channel from channel scanning.
Set the scan mode Skip and select the channel to be skipped. Now, start scanning by pres-
sing the scan key SC (15) shortly.
