Software IV-13 Numitron Clock NumiQueen
Firmware Version 1.0
1.
Master Blanking Mode has priority over the Night Mode. Use this mode to disable all displays on weekends
(e.g. the clock is in the office) or during weekdays (e.g. the clock is at home). Master Blanking shuts down all
power supplies and tubes-LEDs to save power and tube life. Briefly pushing SET will turn on the display for
the time span as programed in option 28.
2.
Night time column mode is active when night mode is set to half brightness. During night time blanking both,
clock display and columns are disabled.
3.
On option value "2" (WWVB) the automatic DST switching takes not place. Please set DST manually on spring
and disable it on autumn with the DST button if necessary (e.g. Arizona don't have DST).
4.
Enter you time zone offset depending on your location. This correction just takes place when the next time
frame is received.
5.
If the tubes pre-heating is disabled it is recommended to disable also the optical digit fading / scrolling effects
(option 26 = 0, option 27 = 0 or 1).
6.
DCF / WWVB / MSF sync takes place at the hour. If no valid frame is received in 6 minutes, the clock reverts
to normal operation. Pushing ADJ will cancel seeking.
7.
Date will be displayed each minute between seconds 50...55.
8.
Press SET during Night time / Master Blanking Mode will turn on the display.
9.
Set this parameter to "1" to restore original factory settings. After restoring, this value is set to "0"
automatically. Alternatively the defaults can be restored by keeping SET pushed during powering up the clock
(cold start) with DIP-switch setting "POWER BACKUP = off".
Rapid DST Adjustment
Press DST briefly to toggle between DST and standard time. The DST-LED indicator shows whether DST mode is active
or not. If the time has been synchronized from a DCF / MSF receiver, the light (and DST mode) will be set or cleared
automatically. It can be manually overridden, however the clock will re-set the DST status again at the next sync.
Note, that GPS time data does not contain DST information, so that the DST status will need to be set manually in GPS
sync mode as well as in manual time set mode without RTF receiver.
Radio Frequency Time or GPS Receiver
The clock can automatically synchronise time from DCF (Europe), WWVB (USA) and MSF (UK).
The clock can also receive time from a GPS receiver that transmits information using NMEA-0183 protocol with $GPRMC
sentence; e.g. the wired BR-355 or the Wireless GPS Set 3 with ASK receiver module.
1.
Set option 12 for: 1 = DCF, 2 = WWVB, 3 = MSF, 4 = GPS respectively.
• If using GPS, set the baud rate in option 13 (normally 4.8 kbps or 9.6 kbps).
2.
Set option 14 and 15 for the hours and minutes your time zone on standard time (no DST) is offset from the
synchronization source. This are usually only a whole hours, for example:
• Germany is 1 hour plus offset (non DST) from UTC time transmitted by the GPS.
• UK is 1 hour minus offset from the time transmitted by the German DCF signal.
• France has no offset from the time transmitted by the German DCF signal.
3.
Set option 16 to identify if your offset must be added or subtracted from the time source.
4.
Set option 23 to select between hourly seek and daily seek in the RTF modes. Daily seek is recommended.
5.
If you have selected daily seek, use option 24 to set the time of the daily seek.
6.
When option 25 is set to "1" it turns off the tubes during seek. This may prevents interferences by the internal
circuits. Set this option to "0" when using GPS source.
Function of the SYNC indicator dezimal point (most righthand tube)
No radio synchronisation source installed (option 12 = 0)
decimal point is permanently off
RTF or GPS synchronisation enabled (option 12 = 1...4):
The decimal point will be on if the clock has synchronized in the last two hours.
The decimal point will slowly flash if the last synchronization was between 2 and 24 hours before.
The decimal point will be off if the last synchronization is older than 24 hours.
Additional, if DCF, WWVB or MSF mode is selected, the decimal point will flash rapidly whilst the clock is actually
receiving and processing a valid time frame.
The function of this decimal point display is summarized in the table below
