Operating instructions control electronic KR-HS/HD
General Notes
häwa air conditioners can be supplied with two different control electronics.
Control electronic - standard controller KR-HS: Control panel and one temperature sensor inside the housing
Control electronic - display controller KR-HD: Control panel and four temperature sensors inside the housing; controls front panel mounted. An
additional interface module KR-RS485 can optionally be installed for master-slave operation, PC or remote control operation. See also device specific
operating instructions and circuit diagram KR-HS/HD.
All functions marked with * apply only to display controller KR-HD.
Device Functions and Operation
Temperature setting
The required internal cabinet temperature can be adjusted as follows:
Display controller KR-HD: at the control panel
Standard controller KR-HS: by means of jumpers on the control board
The temperature is set at the factory to +35°C/+95ºF.
Temperature Control
If the internal cabinet temperature exceeds the set value (factory setting +35°C/95ºF), the air conditioner starts up and remains in operation until the
switching delay set point (factory setting 5 K) is reached. Certain fault indications or re-start delay time adjustments may impede the cooling function.
Door Switch
In case a door switch is installed, the compressor and the internal fan are switched off, upon opening of the cabinet doors. Normally the internal fan
runs continuously to prevent heat build-up inside the cabinet. If the switch delay phase was active before closing the doors, it remains effective after-
ward. See circuit diagram KR-HS/HD for an external connection to lead 4/5 of the control path.
Fault Indication
Alarm indications can be individually assigned to either one (or two*) fault indication relays.
The extended insulated contacts can be used as selective switch contacts (normally closed*). They are opened in the case of fault indication, so that a
power failure is also signaled.
See circuit diagram KR-HS/HD for the external connection to lead 1/2/3 of the control path.
Test Mode
The test mode runs automatically when power is switched on. It can also be initiated on the control panel by simultaneously pressing the 'Up' and
'Down' keys for five seconds.
The active test mode is displayed via LED.
Test run: first, only the internal fan starts up, and after 30 seconds, also the external blower and the compressor start to operate.
After three minutes, the compressor is switched off, while the external and internal fans remain in operation for a fixed time period.
Afterwards, the air conditioner re-sets to the normal operation mode. The test mode can be terminated by actuating the door switch.
Master-Slave Operation
Devices with display controller KR-HD and optionally installed interface module KR-RS485 can be connected with up to 16 masterslave devices.
Function of parameters P00 setting and P10 temperature setting of the master device are taken over by the slave devices.
If one of the devices initiates start-up, all other devices are switched on successively with a delay of one second, for each.
All devices remain in operation until the last device has signaled shut-off. However, any one of the devices is immediately switched off, if it either
remains 10 K below the set value or 15°C/27ºF below the internal cabinet temperature. Fault indications are signaled at the failed device and at the
master device. However, only the failed device is switched off. The communication path between master and slave devices is continuously monitored. In
the case of communication faults, alarm A 14 is initiated and the slaves are switched off.
For door switch functions see programming P13.
The devices are connected via RS485 interface (9-pin SUB-D-socket at the rear of the device). Use only häwa supplied shielded Y-cables, in order to
maintain the EMI/RFI integrity.
For further functions see the "programming" list.

After the operating voltage is applied, the software version number is briefly displayed. Afterwards the operating state is re-set, i.e. the internal tempe-
rature TS1 is shown at the display. Fault indications are shown alternately with the internal temperature (one second each). The temperature can be
shown in °C and °F. The center LED illuminates for degree Fahrenheit indication.
The activated cooling is indicated via the left LED.
Various parameters can be changed within the limit settings via the control. The factory set default values for the corresponding devices KR-HS or KR-
HD are shown in the "programming" list.
