Connecting
Input jack - connect your instrument here using a 1/4 inch
mono jack cable. If you run on battery we recommend removing
this jack to preserve battery power when you don't play.
Output jack - connect to another pedal or directly into an amp
or mixer. When the tuner is active the output will be muted for
silent tuning. Notice that PolyTune™ is designed with a true
bypass circuit that leaves your beloved tone unaltered when the
tuner is bypassed.
Power in - use a 9 VDC power supply with the following
symbol:
Power out - If you use an external power supply you may use
PolyTunes™ power out to daisy-chain power to other pedals.
•
Do NOT connect an external power supply to POWER OUT. This could cause malfunction or damage
to PolyTune™. Current draw on daisy-chained pedals may not exceed 2A.
• Be sure that your power supply delivers sufficient power to cover the power consumption of
all pedals.
• Place PolyTune™ before drive and distortion pedals for best tuner indication.
Tuning and Display modes
PolyTune™ features both Polyphonic and Chromatic tuning modes. Toggle through the following
chromatic Needle/Stream display modes, as well as Guitar/Bass modes, by pressing the DISPLAY
button several times: Needle (G), Stream (G), Needle (B) and Stream (B). "G" for guitar and "B" for
Bass. Leave the button untouched for 2 seconds to return to tuning mode.
Chromatic mode
Standard chromatic tuning of one string at a time. The display indication can be set to either Needle or
Stream mode.
Needle display mode - Tune your instrument according to the position of the "needle". When the note
is in tune the five green center LEDs plus left and right arrows are lit. (see above)
Stream display mode - The stream moves right (note too high) or left (note too low). Tune your
instrument until the stream of LED groups is steady.
Poly mode
Yes, this is a polyphonic tuner. The amazing PolyTune™ allows you to get an overview of the pitch of
all strings (guitar or 4/5/6 string bass) simultaneously. Simply strum all open strings firm and evenly,
and you can see exactly which strings that need fine tuning. It is your choice whether you prefer to fine-
tune strings in Chromatic or Poly mode.

Dropped tunings
To facilitate players that play in dropped tunings, e.g. to Eb or D,
PolyTune™ also features dropped tuning modes. Tuning modes can
be dropped up to 5 semitones and is selected using the rear panel
button to the right (viewed from the top). Press several times to step
through the tuning modes. The display clearly indicates the selected
6 string bass - out of tune
mode. Leave the button untouched for two seconds and the tuner
then returns to tuning mode.
Poly mode works with standard tuning EADGBE - not e.g.
DADGBE etc.

Mode switching
Via TC Electronics "Monopoly" detection technology, PolyTune™ detects whether you are playing one
or several strings, and automatically switches between Chromatic and Poly mode accordingly.
For the most accurate tuning of electric guitars in Poly mode, we have found that the best result
is achieved by selecting the guitars neck pickup and using the thumb to strum the strings.
Calibrate Pitch Reference
Default pitch reference is 440 Hz but you can calibrate from 435 to 445 Hz in one Hz steps. To change
the pitch reference; press both buttons on the rear panel once and then use the two buttons individually
to step up/down within the pitch reference. Enjoy the numeric indication in the display! - To return to
tuner mode, leave the buttons untouched for 2 seconds.

Miscellaneous
Automatic dim of display - in the lower right side of the display an Ambilight sensor detects the
strength of the surrounding light and automatically adjusts the display brightness accordingly. This way
you will always have appropriate brightness on the display under all conditions and this feature even
extends the battery life when max light is not necessary.
Indication of current settings - When inserting a jack cable to the input, the pedals status is
displayed. Default settings are: Tuning: E, Pitch Reference: 440 Hz, Display mode: Needle.
PolyTune™ remembers the last used settings, even if the power has been disconnected or the
battery has been removed.
Changing battery - Unscrew the thumb-screw on the back of the pedal and detach the backplate.
Unmount the old battery and attach the new battery to the battery clip making sure the polarity is
correct. Then remount the backplate. To save battery life; remove the input jack when you don't play.
Batteries must never be heated, taken apart or thrown into fire or water. Only rechargeable
batteries can be recharged. Remove the battery when the pedal is unused for a longer period of
time. Dispose batteries according to local laws and regulations.
Low battery indication - When the battery runs low on power the display occasionally indicates this by
writing "BATT".

Anschlüsse vornehmen
Audioeingang: Schließen Sie an diese Buchse mit Hilfe eines 6,3 mm-
Monoklinkenkabels Ihr Instrument an. Wenn Sie den PolyTune™ über eine
Batterie mit Strom versorgen, empfehlen wir Ihnen, das Audiokabel vom
Audioeingang abzuziehen, wenn Sie nicht spielen.

Netzausgang: Wenn Sie den PolyTune™ über ein externes Netzteil mit
Strom versorgen, können Sie über diesen Netzausgang weitere
Gitarrenpedale mit Strom versorgen.
• Schließen Sie keinesfalls ein externes Netzteil an den Netzausgang (9) an. Dies könnte zu einer
Fehlfunktion führen oder den PolyTune™ beschädigen. Die Stromaufnahme mehrerer vom PolyTune™ mit

Stimmungs- und Anzeige-Modi
PolyTune™ erlaubt sowohl polyphones als auch chromatisches Stimmen. Sie können beim chromatischen Stimmen
zwischen den Anzeige- Betriebsarten „Nadel" und „Verlauf" umschalten und außerdem angeben, ob Sie eine Gitarre
oder einen Bass stimmen. Dazu drücken Sie wiederholt die Taste DISPLAY, um zwischen den Anzeigen Nadel (G),
Verlauf (G), Nadel (B) und Verlauf (B) umzuschalten. Dabei steht „G" für Gitarre und „B" für „Bass. Um wieder in die
normale Stimmungs-Betriebsart zurückzuwechseln, genügt es, die Taste einfach zwei Sekunden lang nicht zu bedienen.
Chromatischer Modus
Diese Betriebsart dient zum normalen chromatischen Stimmen einzelner Saiten. Die Anzeige erfolgt entweder als Nadel
oder Verlauf.
Anzeige-Betriebsart „Nadel": Orientieren Sie sich beim Stimmen Ihres Instruments an der Position der im Display
gezeigten „Nadel". Wenn die Saite korrekt gestimmt ist, leuchten in der Anzeige die fünf grünen Leuchtdioden in der
Mitte sowie die beiden darauf weisenden Linien links und rechts auf (siehe oben).
Anzeige-Betriebsart „Verlauf": Die Linien im Display bewegen sich nach rechts, wenn die Saite zu hoch gestimmt ist
oder nach links, wenn sie zu niedrig gestimmt ist. Stimmen Sie Ihr Instrument, bis sich die Linien nicht mehr bewegen.
Poly-Modus
Richtig – dies ist ein polyfones Stimmgerät. Der PolyTune™ ist tatsächlich in der Lage, die Tonhöhe aller Saiten Ihres
Instruments (Gitarre oder ein vier- bis sechssaitiger Bass) in der Übersicht anzuzeigen. Spielen Sie dazu einfach alle
Saiten (leer) mit kräftigem Anschlag – und Sie sehen sofort, welche Saiten nachgestimmt werden müssen. Sie können
die eigentliche (Fein-)Stimmung dann im Poly-Modus oder im chromatischen Modus vornehmen.

Skordaturen (Dropped-D-/Eb-Stimmungen)
Wenn Sie Ihr Instrument herunterstimmen (zum Beispiel auf Eb oder D),
unterstützt Sie der PolyTune™ durch entsprechende Stimmungs-Betriebsarten.
Sie können die Saiten dabei bis zu fünf Halbtöne herunterstimmen. Dazu
verwenden Sie den (von oben gesehen) rechten Schalter auf der Rückseite
des PolyTune™. Drücken Sie diese Taste mehrmals hintereinander, um

Betriebsart wird deutlich im Display angezeigt. Wenn Sie die Taste zwei
Sekunden lang nicht bedienen, kehrt das Stimmgerät wieder in die normale

Beachten Sie bitte, dass die Betriebsart Poly nur für die reguläre
Stimmung (E-A-d-g-h-e) verwendet werden kann; nicht aber für D-A-d-
g-h-e usw.

Die von TC Electronic entwickelte "Monopoly"-Erkennungstechnologie des PolyTune™ stellt fest, ob Sie eine oder
mehrere Saiten spielen und schaltet dementsprechend automatisch zwischen chromatischem Modus und Poly-Modus
um.
Bei E-Gitarren erhalten Sie in der Poly-Betriebsart ein optimales Ergebnis, wenn Sie den Hals-Tonabnehmer
verwenden und die Saiten mit dem Daumen anschlagen.
Kalibrieren der Referenztonhöhe
Die Standard-Referenztonhöhe des PolyTune™ ist 440 Hz, aber Sie können ihn in 1-Hz-Schritten auf jede Stimmung
zwischen 435 und 445 Hz einstellen. Zum Ändern der Referenztonhöhe drücken Sie zunächst die beiden Tasten auf der
Rückseite des PolyTune™ gleichzeitig. Drücken Sie die Tasten dann einzeln, um die Referenztonhöhe zu erhöhen oder
zu erniedrigen. Die gewählte Tonhöhe wird numerisch im Display angezeigt. Der PolyTune™ wechselt automatisch in die
normale Stimmungs-Betriebsart zurück, wenn Sie die beiden Tasten zwei Sekunden lang nicht bedienen.

Anzeige der aktuellen Einstellungen: Wenn Sie einen Klinkenstecker in den Audioeingang stecken, werden die
aktuellen Einstellungen des Pedals angezeigt. Die Ausgangswerte sind: Stimmung: E, Referenztonhöhe: 440 Hz,
Anzeige-Betriebsart: Nadel.
Der PolyTune™ speichert die letzten verwendeten Einstellungen. Sie bleiben auch dann erhalten, wenn Sie die
Batterie entfernen und/oder das Gerät vom Stromnetz trennen
Batteriewechsel: Lösen Sie die Batteriefachschraube auf der Unterseite des Pedals und entfernen Sie die Bodenplatte.
Entnehmen Sie die alte Batterie und setzen Sie die neue Batterie ein. Achten Sie dabei auf die korrekte Polarität.
Schrauben Sie die Platte wieder an. Um die Batterie zu schonen, sollten Sie das Kabel vom Audioeingang entfernen,
wenn Sie nicht spielen.
Batterien dürfen niemals erhitzt, in Feuer oder Wasser geworfen oder auseinandergenommen werden. Nur
Akkumulatoren dürfen wiederaufgeladen werden. Wenn Sie das Pedal für längere Zeit nicht verwenden,
entnehmen Sie die Batterie. Beachten Sie beim Entsorgen von Batterien bitte die diesbezüglichen Gesetze und
Bestimmungen.
Anzeige für niedrigen Batteriestand:
Ein niedriger Batteriestand wird durch ein gelegentlich im Display angezeigtes „BATT" angezeigt.

Conexión
Toma de entrada - conecte aquí su instrumento utilizando un cable con
clavija mono de 6,3 mm. Si está utilizando la unidad a pilas, le
recomendamos que cuando no esté tocando desconecte esta toma para
conservar la carga de las pilas.
Toma de salida - conéctela a otro pedal o directamente a un amplificador o
mesa de mezclas. Cuando esté activado el afinador, la salida quedará anulada
para poder realizar una afinación en silencio. Tenga en cuenta que el
PolyTune™ ha sido diseñado con un circuito de bypass real que mantiene
inalterado su fabuloso sonido cuando el afinador es colocado en bypass.
Entrada de alimentación - utilice una fuente de alimentación de 9 VDC

tipo barra (G), Needle (B) and Stream (B). "G" hace referencia a guitarra y "B" a bajo. Para volver al
modo de afinación, no pulse este botón durante al menos 2 segundos.
Modo cromático
Afinación cromática standard en la que se afinan las cuerdas de una en una. La visualización en
pantalla puede ser ajustada al modo Needle o de aguja o al Stream o de barra.
Modo de indicación Needle - Afine el instrumento teniendo en cuenta la posición de la "aguja".
Cuando la nota esté afinada, se encenderán los cinco LEDs verdes centrales y las flechas izquierda y
derecha. (vea arriba)
Modo de indicación Stream - La barra se mueve hacia la derecha (nota demasiado aguda) o hacia la
izquierda (nota demasiado grave). Afine su instrumento hasta que la barra de LEDs se quede fija.
Modo Poly
Es un afinador polifónico. El extraordinario PolyTune™ le permite tener un resumen del tono de todas
las cuerdas (guitarra o bajo de 4/5/6 cuerdas) simultáneamente. Simplemente toque "al aire" firme y
uniformemente todas las cuerdas que quiera afinar. Es decisión suya si prefiere afinar las cuerdas en
el modo cromático o en el modo Poly.

Afinaciones bemoladas
Para los músicos que utilicen afinaciones bemoladas, por ejemplo
en Eb o D, el PolyTune™ también dispone de modos de afinación
bemolada. Los modos de afinación pueden estar bemolados hasta
en 5 semitonos y se eligen utilizando el botón del panel trasero a la
Bajo de 6 cuerdas - desafinado derecha (visto desde arriba). Púlselo varias veces para ir
recorriendo los distintos modos de afinación. En pantalla aparecerá
indicado el modo seleccionado. Deje de tocar el botón durante dos
segundos para volver al modo de afinación.
El modo Poly trabaja con una afinación standard EADGBE -
no por ejemplo con DADGBE etc.

Cambio de modo
Por medio de la tecnología de detección "Monopoly" de TC Electronics, el PolyTune™ detecta si está
tocando una o varias cuerdas a la vez y cambia automáticamente el modo de afinación entre el
cromático y el polifónico de acuerdo a ello.
Para conseguir la máxima precisión al afinar una guitarra eléctrica en el modo Poly, hemos
observado que los mejores resultados se consiguen usando la pastilla de puente de la guitarra y
rasgueando las cuerdas con el pulgar.
Calibración del tono de referencia
El tono de referencia por defecto es 440 Hz, pero puede ajustar su valor entre 435 y 445 Hz a
intervalos de 1 Hz. Para modificar el tono de referencia, pulse una vez ambos botones del panel
trasero y después utilice los dos botones individualmente para aumentar/disminuir el tono de
referencia. ¡Disfrute de la indicación numérica en pantalla! - Para volver al modo de afinador, deje de
tocar los botones durante 2 segundos.

Miscelánea
Oscurecimiento automático de la pantalla - en la parte inferior derecha de la pantalla un sensor
Ambilight detecta la potencia de la iluminación circundante y ajusta automáticamente de acuerdo a ello
el brillo de la pantalla. De este modo siempre tendrá el brillo apropiado en la pantalla y además
ahorrará pila cuando no sea necesario utilizar la máxima iluminación.
Indicación de los ajustes activos - Cuando introduzca un conector en la entrada, aparecerá indicado
en pantalla el estado de los pedales. Los ajustes por defecto son: Afinación: E, tono de referencia: 440
Hz, Modo de indicación: Needle.
El PolyTune™ conserva los últimos ajustes utilizados, incluso aunque apague la unidad o quite
las pilas.
Cambio de pilas - Desenrosque los tornillos de la parte trasera del pedal y quite la lámina trasera.
Saque la pila gastada e introduzca la nueva, colocándola con la polaridad correcta. Coloque otra vez la
lámina trasera. Para ahorrar pila, quite la pila cuando no vaya a tocar.
Nunca caliente las pilas ni las deje cerca y/o las arroje al fuego o al agua. Solo debe recargar las
pilas que sean recargables. Quite la pila cuando no vaya a utilizar el pedal durante largos
períodos de tiempo. Deshágase de las pilas siguiendo las normativas de reciclaje aplicables en
su país.
Indicación de carga baja - Cuando la pila se esté agotando, en pantalla aparecerá la indicación
"BATT".
