Hygienic notes

id health risks, clean the device before fi rst use (see chapter
"Cleaning and care").

Product contents and device overview
Before fi rst use
1. Unpack all parts and check the items supplied for complete-
ness (see the "Items Supplied and Device Overview" chapter)
and transport damage. If you fi nd any damage to the compo-
nents, do not use them (!), but contact our customer service
department.
2. Remove any fi lms or stickers that may be present from the
device.
3. Place the toaster on a dry, heat-resistant, fl at surface a suf-
fi cient distance away from fl ammable objects. Please make
sure that the toaster is not accessible to children.
4. Plug the mains plug into a properly installed and earthed 230 V
mains socket with earthing contacts.
5. Perform 1-2 toasting operations without bread in order to re-
move any production residues. Ensure that there is an interval
of a few minutes between the toasting operations.
6. Your toaster is now ready for operation.
Toasting
The extent of browning depends greatly on the type, the freshness
and the composition of the bread which is used. An increased
protein, sugar or calcium content, for example, leads to stronger
browning, whilst fats and preservatives reduce it.
1. Place the bread slices or rolls on the roasting grate.
2. Depending on the desired darkness, leave the bread slices or
rolls on the roaster for a longer or shorter period. Turn them
over after a while.
3. Remove the bread carefully from the roasting grate. As you
do this, do not touch the hot surfaces! There is a danger
of burns!

Cleaning and Care
CAUTION!
•
Never immerse the device, mains cable or plug in water or
other liquids.
•
Before cleaning the device, always remove the plug from the
mains socket and allow the device to cool down.
•
Do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents. They
could damage the surface.
•
Do not use any metal objects to remove burnt bread residues
from the device.
•
The crumb tray is not suitable for dishwasher use.
•
Do not spray cleaning agents directly onto the toaster.
•
Wipe the device with a clean and slightly damp cloth.
•
Regularly empty the crumb tray:
1. Remove the crumb tray carefully.
2. Remove the crumbs. Wipe off the tray with a damp cloth or
rinse it with a mild detergent under running water.
3. Dry the tray thoroughly.
4. Reinsert the crumb tray.
Troubleshooting
If the device is not working properly, please check whether you are
able to rectify the problem yourself fi rst.
Do not attempt to repair a defective device yourself!
