Proper use

The device is intended to be used for toasting bread.
The device is not suitable for barbecuing meat or other foods!
This device may be used by children ages 8 and over as well
as persons with impaired physical, sensory or mental capaci-
ties or those lacking experience and/or knowledge if they are
supervised or have been instructed in how to safely use the
device and have understood the risks associated with opera-
ting the device. Children may not play with the device. Children
may not perform cleaning and user maintenance of the device
unless they are 8 years of age or older and are supervised.
Keep children under 8 years of age and animals away from the
device and the connection line.
The product is not a toy!
The device is not designed to be operated with an external
timer or a separate remote control system.
The device is intended for domestic, not commercial use.
Only use the device as described in this instruction manual.
Any other use is deemed improper.
Defects arising due to improper handling, damage or attempts
at repair are excluded from the warranty. This also applies to
normal wear and tear.

Safety notes

Risks of injury

Keep children and animals away from the device and pa-
ckaging material. There is a danger of injury and suffocation!
Only use and store the device out of the reach of children. The
mains cord may also not be accessible for children. They could
pull the device down with it.
Keep clothing such as scarves, shawls, ties and long hair away
from the device.
During operation of the device, the temperature may be very
high. Only ever touch the device on the thermally insulated op-
erating elements. The device should only be transported when
it has cooled down.
Be careful when taking the bread after toasting in order to pre-
vent burns. If necessary, use kitchen tongs made of plastic or
wood to remove the bread
Risk of electric shock and fi re
Only connect the device to a properly installed socket with
protective earth contacts. The socket must also be easily ac-
cessible after connecting so that the mains connection can be
quickly disconnected. The mains voltage must correspond to
the technical data of the device. Only use proper extension
cords, whose technical data correspond to those of the device.
Never immerse the device, the mains cord and the plug in wa-
ter or other liquids and make sure that there is no risk of them
falling in water or getting wet.
If the device falls in water, immediately disconnect the power
supply. Do not attempt to pull the device out of the water when
it is connected to the mains supply!
Never touch the device, the mains cord and the mains plug with
wet hands when these components are connected to the mains
supply.

Always pull on the plug itself and never on the mains cord!
Only use the device in enclosed areas.
Do not use the device in rooms containing easily fl ammable
dust or toxic and explosive vapours.
Do not operate the device in very moist environment or in the
vicinity of fl ammable material.
For your own safety, always check the device for damages pri-
or to using it. Only use the device if the device, mains cord and
the plug do not exhibit any damages!
Never leave the device unattended when it is switched on or
plugged in to the mains supply. Pull the mains plug in case of
longer breaks.
Do not make any modifi cations to the device. Also do not repla-
ce the mains cord yourself. Only have the device, cord and plug
repaired by a qualifi ed workshop. Contact customer service if
necessary. Improper repairs could pose serious risks for the
user.
Bread and baked items can catch fi re. You should therefore
empty and clean the crumb tray thoroughly and regularly.
Metal foil packaging, utensils or other objects must not be
placed on the toaster or inserted in the roasting grate because
they may cause fi re or an electric shock.
Do not toast any bread or pastries that are buttered or covered
with sugar or other spreads or toppings which might melt. The
device could be damaged by food which has melted or even
catch fi re!
Only use suitable baked items in the toaster. Do not toast any
extremely dry baked goods, e.g. crispbread, as they can catch
fi re readily.
If bread or parts of the device catch fi re, do not try to extinguish
them with water under any circumstances. Remove the plug
from the socket and smother the fl ames with a wet cloth.
Avoiding damage to materials, property and the
device
Always place the device on a dry, level, fi rm and heat resistant
surface.

Lay the cable so that it does not pose a tripping hazard. Do
not allow the cable to hang over the edge of a table or kitchen
worktop. Someone could catch him/herself and pull down the
device.
Make sure that the mains cord does not get pinched, kinked
or laid over sharp edges and does not come into contact with
hot surfaces.
Maintain adequate distance to heat sources such as stoves or
ovens to prevent damage to the device. Do not place any open
fl ames, e.g. burning candles, in the direct vicinity of the device,
cord and plug.
Only use the device with the crumb tray inserted and empty
the tray regularly.
Remove the mains plug from the socket and allow the device
to cool down if problems occur during toasting.
Do not allow the device to fall and do not subject it to strong
percussions.
Do not pull or carry the device by the cable.
Do not subject the device to extreme temperatures, severe
changes in temperature, moisture, wetness or direct sunlight.
Do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents to clean
the device. They could damage the surface.
