All Heinner chain saws are equipped with a chain
brake which stops a moving chain in milliseconds,
helping to reduce the hazard of kickback.
The chain brake is activated if pressure is applied
against the guard or when the operator's hand
strikes the lever. When the chain brake is
activated, chain stops and the power is cut off.
The chain brake is disengaged (chain can move)
when the brake is pulled back and locked.
The chain brake is engaged (chain cannot move)
when the brake is in forward position. The motor
will not start if the chain brake is engaged.
Kickback is the result of tool misuse and may occur
when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an
object, or when the wood closes in and pinches
the saw chain in the cut.
Kickback can be avoided by:
 Maintaining a firm grip with both hands on the
saw and positioning your body to allow you to
resist kickback forces;
 Not overreaching and cutting above shoulder
height;
 Positioning the cord so that it will not be caught
on branches and the like, during cutting;
 Cutting logs on a saw-horse or cradle, as a
minimum practice (for the first-time user).
Cleaning and maintenance
Unplug the power cord before performing
any maintenance. Do not carry out
maintenance when the engine is hot.

SPROCKET TIP LUBRICATION

1. Unplug the chain saw from the power source.
Make sure that the chain brake is deactivated and
clean the guide bar sprocket tip.
2. Using a Lube gun, insert needle nose into the
lubrication hole and inject grease until it appears
at the outside edge of the sprocket tip. It is not
necessary to remove the saw chain to lubricate the
guide bar sprocket tip.
3. Rotate the chain by hand. Repeat the procedure
until the entire sprocket tip has been greased.
Incorrect filing and non-uniform cutter and depth
gauge settings cause most guide bar problems. As
the bar wears unevenly, the rails widen, causing
chain clatter and difficulty in making straight cuts.
Insufficient guide bar lubrication and operating the
saw with a chain that is too tight will contribute to
rapid bar wear.

OIL FILLING

Note: the chainsaw is shipped without oil in it, but
it must never be used without oil or with an oil
level that is below the indicator.
Remove oil cap. Fill the oil tank with SAE (Society
of Automotive Engineers) #30 motor oil. For
temperatures below 0°C, use SAE #10 oil. For
temperatures above 24°C, use SAE # 40 oil.
Check the oil level periodically, through the oil
level indicator (13). Tighten oil cap firmly to avoid
oil seepage from tank. Wipe off excess oil.
Empty oil tank after each use to prevent seepage.
Check the automatic operation of the chain
lubrication by pointing the tip of the switched on
saw towards a piece of paper laying on the ground,
if a patch of oil appears and becomes larger, then
the automatic oil function is working.
If the automatic oil function is not working,
remove the chain bar and clean out the oil ways of
the chainsaw and chain bar. If the chain lubrication
is still not working take it it to our autorised service
centre.

GUIDE BAR

The bar should be reversed every 8 working hours
to ensure uniform wear.
Keep the bar groove and lubrication hole clean.
Check the bar rails frequently for wear and, if
necessary, remove the burs.
CHAIN
Always use a low-kickback saw chain (a chain
which has met the kickback performance
