1 Function

The CLARIS filter systems use ion-selective filter medium to reduce the carbonate hardness of potable
water . The DuoBlend® bypass valve in the filter head can be used to precisely adjust the carbonate hard-
ness of the filtered water and to adapt it to the application . The filter material also reduces heavy metal
ions like lead, copper and cadmium . The integrated active carbon block reduces undesirable cloudiness,
organic impurities, odour and taste and chlorine residue from the filtrate and bypass water .
2 Flushing during installation and replacement of ULTRA fi lter cartridges
Insert the Pentair Claris ULTRA filter cartridge into the filter head by rotation and screw clockwise until
it stops . This vents the system and flushes the filter cartridge . The filter cartridge must be flushed after
every replacement with a minimum amount of water (type ULTRA 500 = 10 litres; 1000 = 20 litres; 2000
= 30 litres) . Please follow the steps 1 - 3 in chapter 7 "Determining the carbonate hardness" to flush the
filter .
