meaning
Lights up as soon as a connection is detected, and the first stage of the
clock re-synchronization is locked.
In the second stage - i.e. once the  symbol has lit up - the DAC 8
attempts to switch over to its internal precision oscillator (local oscillator).
This eliminates jitter effects, but is only possible if the clock quality of the
connected signal is adequate.
Once the switch has taken place, the  symbol also lights up.
It is not possible to switch to the internal oscillator at the 32 kHz sampling
frequency.
Indicates that USB data transfer is running in asynchronous mode.
Asynchronous data transfer is only possible in USB Audio Class 2 (High
Speed) mode (see section entitled 'Driver installation').
Lights up constantly when the 'ANALOG OUT' outputs or the headphone
output are switched on.
The symbol goes out if the outputs are muted manually using the 
button of the F8 handset.
Flashes when the DAC 8's outputs are muted because it has detected no
signal.
Lights when there is an error in the data transfer, or when the signal
present is 'non audio signal' (e.g. DTS or Dolby Digital).
Indicates that the device is being controlled exclisive via the CTRL
(RS232) socket.
When this symbol is lit, the buttons on the machine are blocked.
Lights up immediately when a signal with de-emphasis is detected.
Lights when the volume control is switched on, either because the slide
switch on the back of the machine is in the appropriate position, or
because headphones are connected.
(see section entitled 'Basic settings, Installation,
Using the system for the first time')
