3. Step: Programming User Fingerprints
After the master was programmed, any other authorised "user fingerprints" can be programmed.
Clearance by the master fingerprint is required, however, to prevent programming of any undesired users!
To programme the user fingerprint, proceed as follows:
1. Set jumper "J1". "LED1" goes out after approx. 10 seconds. The "LED2" and "STATUS LED" light up.
2. Now the master fingerprint is required for clearance! For this, the "master finger" must be pulled over
the sensor (as described in "Correct Sensor Operation"). When the master fingerprint was recognized
successfully, "LED1" lights up to indicate readiness for programming new user fingerprints.
3. Now put the desired user finger in place and pull it out over the sensor. If the fingerprint was programmed
correctly, "LED1" goes out for approx. one second, and "STATUS LED" lights up for that time. This
programming procedure may have to be repeated several times depending on the quality of the
fingerprint recorded (approx. five times). If "LED1" and "LED2" flash twice, this indicates that the
programming procedure for the authorised user was completely successfully.
If other users are to be programmed, repeat no. 3.
4. If you want to exit the programming process, remove jumper "J1". After approx. 30 seconds, your
information is computed and encoded. "LED1" and "LED2" light up.
The user programming process is now completed. Replace the cover of the evaluation unit. The device
is ready for operation.
Note:
When "LED2" lights up during the programming process of the "user fingerprints",
clearance by the master fingerprint must be repeated (see "no. 2").
If the memory is full, "LED1" and "LED2" will flash 5 times.
Never forget to remove jumper "J1" after completing the programming, or the device will
remain in programming mode!
The change from programming mode to any other operating mode takes approx. 30
seconds.
Operation (Relay Operation)
In normal operating mode (relay mode), the two jumpers "J1" and "J2" must not
be inserted.
In this mode, "LED1" and "LED2" are lit and the "STATUS LED" is off. (if "J1"
and "J2" are inserted but the USB socket is not connected to a computer, the
device is in relay mode, too)
For operation, proceed as follows:
1. Insert the respective finger to the deep stop as usual and pull it over the sensor as described in "Correct
Sensor Operation". When the finger is inserted "LED2" goes out, and after it is pulled out, "LED1" goes
out.
2. If the fingerprint was recognized, this is confirmed by "LED1" and "LED2" lighting up shortly, and the
switching contact is activated for three seconds (or the time set by the computer software.
3. When "LED1" and "LED2" are lit again, the module is ready for the next recognition.
Error message of LED1 and LED2 / fingerprint was not detected
If a reading attempt does not recognise the fingerprint, this is indicated after no more than 10 seconds by
"LED1" and "LED2" blinking fast for three times. Repeat the reading process again when the two LEDs
("LED1" and "LED2") are lit again.
A short flickering of "LED1" and "LED2" during operation is system-related and does not
indicate any defect.
Resetting to Default Settings (Deleting the programmed fingerprints)
The programmed fingerprints can only be deleted altogether. Individual deletion is not
possible without the PC software.
To delete all fingerprints (including the master!), proceed as follows:
• If applicable, remove all jumpers from the evaluation unit.
• Insert the "J2" jumper and wait for approx. 20 seconds until "LED1" goes out.
• After this time (and not before), all memorized fingerprints are deleted.
• The switching time of the relay is reset to approx. three seconds.
• Remove jumper "J2". The module is back in its default state.
Hardware Reset
If "LED1" and "LED2" do not show any reaction to touching the sensor caused by external influence like
voltage peaks, wrong operation or forgetting to pull of the jumpers, the operating voltage has to be
interrupted at the "POWER" clamp for 20 seconds. The programmed fingerprint data is preserved.
PC Mode (USB Interface)
Install the drivers before connecting the device to the PC! For this, first read the instructions
on the fingerprint access system software CD.
The fingerprint module has a USB interface. It can be used to connect to a computer through a USB cable
(type A plug to mini USB plug).
The included software provides a number of other functions for making operating of the system and
managing the fingerprints easier. The relay switching time may also be adjusted from approx. 1 to 30
seconds within the software.
To install the software, insert the provided CD in the respective drive of your computer and run the file
"setup.exe" in the root directory of the CD. Follow the instructions (see "readme.txt" for "Notes on
installation").
