THE OPTIONAL OSCILLATORS
With the aid of the optional oscillators it is pos-
sible to set up the AED F61 as a stand-alone
master-clock generator.
The standard frequencies are 44.1 and 48 kHz,
on request other frequencies are possible.
The accuracy of the oscillators is 25 ppm as a
standard, on request accuracies of 3 ppm are
possible.
Ex work 48 kHz are switched activ. Via a jum-
per inside AED F61 the other frequency is ac-
cessible (see: "technical supplement") .
The internal oscillator is only enabled when no
(valid) clock is input to AED F61.
The activ state of the oscillator is displayed by
the yellow "INTernal" LED on the front panel.
CHANNEL-STATUS SETTINGS
OF THE AES DATAWORD
The AES word which is computed out of a
WCLK signal or out of the internal oszillator fre-
quency is always coded as "professional".
By means of a 4 position DIP-switch inside the
unit some selected channel-status bits may be
set (see: "BIT-SETTING"-table on page 6).
Ex works all switches are set to OFF.
THE OPERATION MODES
As mentioned above the AED F61 can be confi-
gured in three different splitting modes. Swit-
ching is effected by the "LINK A to B" and "LINK
B to C" buttons on the front panel.
In the standard set-up (no link activ) all inputs
are activ and serve the outputs "OUT A1...A3",
"OUT B1...3" and "OUT C1...C3" respectively.
When depressing a link button an input is swit-
ched to the next group of outputs. The original
input of this group is muted.
INPUT SELECT / PRIORITIES
IN GROUP „A"
A valid clock at the input enables itself.
When no (valid) input signal is present and AED
F61 has no internal oscillators, the "ERROR/
MUTE" LED is lit meaning that the outputs of
group "A" are muted (an all outputs linked to
"A").
When the WCLK option is built in, the AES/EBU
input of group „A" may also be used.
The priority between WCLK and AES/EBU input
is selected with a jumper inside the unit.
Ex works the priority is set to the WCLK input.
When both inputs are activ, also both "AES-
SYNC" and "WCLK" LEDs on the frontpanel are
lit, independent of the selected priority.
When no signal is detected at the inputs, auto-
matically the internal oscillator is enabled, or
(with no oszillator option) the "ERROR/MUTE"
LED is lit and the outputs are muted.
THE OUTPUTS
The nine outputs are situated on the back panel
and fitted with XLR typ connectors.
They are arranged in groups "A", "B" and "C"
and marked according to their function.
All outputs are transformer balanced with an im-
pedance of 110 ohms, according to AES-3-
1992, and equipped with an own driver. The
slewrate is limited according to AES specificati-
ons.
