GENERAL INFORMATION
The LAKE PEOPLE DSA F63 is an activ trans-
former balanced matching, boosting and distri-
bu-tion amplifier. It offers three inputs and nine
outputs, configurable as either 3 x 1 in 3, 1 x 1
in 3 + 1 in 6 or 1 x 1 in 9. Thus the AED F61
provides many of the most used distibution con-
figurations.
According to the standard, inputs and outputs
are transformer banalced with impedances of
110 ohms.
Due to its high quality transformers and sensiti-
ve circuitry, it is capable of refreshing weak and
deteriorated singals and driving long signal li-
nes.
OPTIONS
As an option, the AED F61 can be equipped
with a WCLK input. From this signal, the inter-
nal logic derives an AES/EBU signal of identical
clock rate and feeds it to the outputs.
As an option the AED F61 can be equipped
with internal oszillators. As a standard sample-
rates of 44.1 and 48 kHz are computed.
THE CASE
The grounded case is made of 3 mm aluminium
and 1.25 mm steel sheet, thus providing high
mechanical stability and ruggedness even un-
der though handling circumstances.
The internal ground and the earthed case are
connected together with a high ohmic R-C com-
bination.
POWER SUPPLY
The unit is connected to mains via a built-in
IEC-CEE socket with integrated fuse holder, ea-
sily accessible from the outside. Voltage is set
to 230 VAC. The "POWER"-switch is located on
the front panel.
Active status is indicated by a LED next to the
power switch.
THE INPUTS
The three AES/EBU inputs are situated on the
rear, fitted with XLR typ connectors. They are
denoted as "IN A", "IN B" and "IN C".
The inputs are made according to AES 3-1992
specifications, transformer balanced, impedan-
ce 110 ohms.
Input "A" includes some special circuitry com-
pared to the other inputs, because with this in-
put the options "WCLK IN" and "INTERNAL
OSZILLATOR" are combined.
A signal present on input "A" is displayed on the
front via the "AES-SYNC" LED.
The inputs "B" and "C" include no signalisation.
OPTIONS
THE OPTIONAL WCLK INPUT
As an option the AED F61 can be equipped the
an input for WCLK signal. This offers the oppor-
tunity to feed digital equipment needing an
AES/EBU signal for sync-purposes to be driven
by a WCKL signal.
The clock information of the WCLK signal is
merged into an AES/EBU signal of identical
sample-rate.
Switching between WCLK and a signal even-
tually present at input "A" is provided automati-
cally. The priority between these signals may
be switched internally (see: "Technical supple-
ment").
Ex works the WCKL signal has priority.
A LED on the front denoted "WCLK" indicates
PLL lock-in and thus proper operation of the cir-
cuitry.
The lock range stretches from 28... 56 kHz. In
order to avoid errors by incorrect impedance
matching as happens frequently when dealing
with WCLK signals, ths impedance is swit-
chable between 75 ohms and 10 kohms (see:
"technical supplement").
The impedance is factory set to 75 ohms.
