- The coaxial input is equipped with a cinch
connector and corresponds to IEC 958, un-
balanced, impedance 75 ohms.
HINT: The level on this input complies with
AES-id regulations (1 V
- The optical input is equipped with a TOS-
Link connector and corresponds to EIAJ RC-
5720.
THE DIGITAL INPUT SELECTION
With the "SOURCE SELECT"-switch on the
frontpanel of the D/A part one of three inputs
maybe selected.
The activated input is displayed by one of three
green LED´s.
A valid digital input word is shown by the green
"LOCK"-LED, while unvalid data is displayed by
the red "ERROR"-LED.
Furthermore the status of the signal - professi-
onal format and emphasis - is shown.
The sample rate (96, 88.2, 48, 44.1 and 32
kHz) is displayed by yellow LED´s as far as the
computed frequency of the active input signal is
within a range of +/- 200 Hz around the above
values.
Valid digital data outside these fixed values but
within a range of 28 ... 56 (108) kHz is display
only by the green "LOCK"-LED.
HINT:
A digital input signal with emphasis (the yellow
"EMPHASIS"-LED is lit) is treated by a digital
deemphasis circuit inside the converter chip - in
a correct mannor only with a sample rate of
44.1 kHz.
This is not a big problem, because emphasis
signals normally appear only with the "CD fre-
quency" 44.1 kHz.
When the sample rate of the emphasis signal is
different to 44.1 kHz, wrong conversion of hig-
her frequency analog signals has to be calcula-
ted.

THE D/A CONVERTER
The standard D/A converter is a 96 kHz / 24 bit
converter with a dynamic range of 115 dB.
The inside of the D/A part is quiet universal so it
may be updated with other converter chips in
the future.
LAKE PEOPLE will inform about updates on
their web-site www.lake-people.de!
THE ANALOG OUTPUTS
The D/A part´s analog outputs are located on
the rear panel, equipped with electronically ba-
lanced XLR terminals.
Pinout follows AES 14-1992 recommendations:
1 = Ground, 2 = (+) Phase, 3 = (-) Phase
Output impedance is 30 Ohms approx.
HINT:
In case of unbalanced termination of the out-
puts the "remaining" pin (mostly pin 3) must be
left open and not tied to ground to avoid unwan-
ted distortion of the output stage.
The unbalanced signal will have -6 db less le-
vel.
THE OUTPUT LEVEL
The level on the line outputs may be varied by
trims and a pot, both situated on the front panel.
When the position of the pot is full CW, the level
of both outputs may be varied with the trims
from 0 ... +25 dBu for full scale signals.
Ex works the calibration is +15 dBu.
When the D/A part is used for example as a
master converter in front of active loudspea-
kers, the volume may be adjusted with the "VO-
LUME"-pot.
