Avoiding Feedback Loops
Many recorders feed the input signal directly to
their outputs. If both are connected to the PATCH-
AMP F18, feedback loops can occur. In this case,
some equipment produces oscillations that can se-
riously damage your loudspeakers. So, observe
your routing carefully when such configuration can-
not be avoided !
Unbalanced Termination of Balanced Outputs
Using the standard version of PATCH-AMP F18
with unbalanced termination of the balanced out-
puts, the third pin should not be soldered to signal
ground, for this might result in more distortion.
On the contrary, the third pin should be grounded
for optimum performance when using the professi-
onal version.
Crosstalk and Headphone Operation
Due to their construction headphones are unbalan-
ced loads. This may affect the outstanding cross-
talk behavior of the PATCH-AMP F18.
Therefore follow these hints:
- Whilst recording critical material do not monitor
other sources with the headphone amp.
- Do not use the headphone amp longer than
necessary.
- Set the volume control to minimum after use.
