Dear customer,
The following safety instructions and hazard warnings are intended not only
to protect your health but also to protect the device. Please read the follow-
ing points carefully:
a) General
• When touching or connecting the board, appropriate safety precautions
against static charge should be taken (e.g., earth connection, insulating
support, etc.).
• The product is only suitable for dry, enclosed indoor areas. It must not get
damp or wet as this would damage it.
• Protect the product from cold, heat, direct sunlight, dust and dirt.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or
accidental falls, even from a low height.

• Incorrect installation can cause damage to the USB board and to your
computer and all connected devices.
• Caution, danger to life!
Switch off the computer in which the board is to be installed and all con-
nected devices, and disconnect them also from the mains voltage. Pull the
mains plug! Turning off at the on/off switch is not enough!

Connection to Raspberry Pi
• First, attach the USB board to your Raspberry Pi
To do this, use the screw set and the spacers provided.
Please keep in mind that not all Raspberry Pi
In this case, make sure especially that the board does not cause a short
circuit (e.g., through contact with your Raspberry Pi
Power supply and connection via micro-USB:
• Make sure that the jumper (5V_IN) is set to USB. Here, the jumper must connect the
central pin of the 3 pins to the outer pin next to the micro-USB2.0 port (USB_M). The
pin is labelled with "USB" (white print in the middle of the board).
• Connect a micro-USB 2.0 cable (not included in the delivery) with the micro-USB 2.0
port (USB_M) of the board.
Connect the USB plug type A to a free USB connector on your Raspberry Pi
It does not matter if your Raspberry Pi
is connected. The USB hub will be recognised without problem during op-
eration. An external driver is not necessary.
Power supply and connection via the 5-pin connector:
• As an alternative to micro-USB 2.0 connection (USB_M) you can also use the 5-pin
(USB_P) connector. It is absolutely necessary to pay attention to the correct alloca-
tion. You can find this information either in the data sheet in English by the manu-
facturer or on the board (white print in the middle of the board). Also observe the
documentation of the Raspberry Pi
+5V = 5 V/DC; D- = data lines -; D+ = data lines +; NC = not connected; GND = ground
• If the 5-pin connection is used, it is recommended to switch off and disconnect your
Raspberry Pi
from power supply.
®
Power supply via an additional 2-pole connector:
• Additionally, you can supply external voltage to the USB board.
Connect it to the white 2pole plug "PWR". Observe the correct polarity!
+5V = 5 V/DC; GND = ground
Change the position of the jumper (5V_IN) to "PWR". Here, the jumper must connect
the central pin of the 3 pins to the outer pin next to the additional white power con-
nector. The pin is labelled with "PWR" (white print in the middle of the board). This
will disconnect the voltage supply via USB and move it to the external connector.
If you use an external power supply, connection to your Raspberry Pi
possible via either micro-USB 2.0 port or 5-pin connector.
It does not matter whether you connect the external power supply or the
USB cable to your computer.
Connecting devices:
• After the board is attached and connected to your Raspberry Pi
connect one or more USB devices to 4 USB 2.0 ports (USB_1_2, USB_3_4).
At that, it does not matter if your Raspberry Pi
are recognised during operation without any problem as with any other USB
connection.
If the USB board is used only via USB (without additional power supply), the
power supplied by Raspberry Pi
you want e.g. an external hard drive without own power supply, we recom-
mend that you apply an additional power connector.
• As an alternative to the 4 USB2.0 ports, the USB board contains also 2 9-pin connec-
tors (USB_P_1_2 and USB_P_3_4).
Here you can connect USB devices or USB sockets (e.g. integrated in housing),
which have no USB plug of type A, but are to be connected via PINs.
Warning! Not more than 4 USB devices may be connected at the same
time. Use either 2 USB ports of type A or the respective 9-pin connector
(USB_P_1_2 or USB_P_3_4) located behind.
Please pay attention to the correct polarity! A pin row (5 or 4 pins) of the 9-pin con-
nectors correspond to one USB port.
Assignment is described below (view of the board from above; the USB ports are
facing you; from left to right).
1. Row (5 pins):
5 V/DC; Data lines -; Data lines +; GND = ground; NC = not connected
2. Row (4 pins):
