Motion Detector BM 21
Intended Use
The motion detector with doorbell and alarm functions detects movements
within its scanning area and indicates them by means of an acoustic signal.
A condition for complying with the intended use is that the equipment is
installed correctly and the information in the manual is observed and main-
tained.
Any use other than that described in Section "Intended Use" is considered
unintended use. Unauthorised modifi cations or reconstructions are not
permitted and could cause damage to the motion detector.

Avoid any personal injury by paying attention to the following information!

! Risk of suffocation and damage to health through
batteries! Children can swallow small parts, packaging and
protective foils. Keep the product and packaging out of reach of
children! Keep batteries out of reach of children. Do not swallow
batteries. If any type of battery is swallowed, seek medical
attention immediately.

! Risk of damage to health and environmental pollution
through batteries! Improper handling of batteries can put your
health and the environment at risk. Never open, damage or
swallow batteries or allow them to pollute the environment.
Batteries may contain toxic, ecologically hazardous heavy metals.

The acoustic warning signal from the motion detector
could damage your hearing. The volume of the acoustic signals
can be maximally 85 dB. Do not operate or test the motion
detector in the direct vicinity of your ears.
Package Contents
Check the package contents of the motion detector carefully before putting
the motion detector into operation. If anything is missing or damaged, please
contact our Service department.

Before You Start
The following information should help to ensure that your motion detector
always works as you expect it to.
Do not paint over the motion detector.
Position the motion detector so that the acoustic signal can be heard
throughout the entire residential or business premises.
Pay attention to the angle of vision of 120° in a scanning area of up to
5 m.

Inserting the Battery
Power is supplied to your motion detector by mignon cell batteries (AA). This
means that the motion detector also works in the event of a power failure.
Please note that the batteries are not contained in the material supplied.
1.
Open the battery compartment on the rear side of the motion detector.
Place your thumb on the roughened area
of the battery compartment cover and
slide the battery compartment cover
downwards exerting a slight pressure.

Insert three appropriate batteries in the
battery compartment. Pay attention that
the batteries are inserted the right way
around.
3.
Close the battery compartment on the
rear side of the motion detector.
Positioning the Motion Detector
Stand your motion detector in the location of your choice. Pay attention that
no unwanted movements can occur within the scanning area of the motion
detector (e.g. due to pets) which could trigger false alarms.
Position the motion detector so that the scanning area covers the area to be
monitored.
Hanging the Motion Detector on a Wall
You can hang your motion detector in the location of your choice. Use the
mounting bracket supplied for the purpose. Pay attention that no unwanted
movements can occur within the scanning area of the motion detector (e.g.
due to pets) which could trigger false alarms.

Use the holes in the mounting bracket as a drilling template and drill
two suffi ciently large holes in the wall or ceiling.
2.
Insert an appropriate dowel in each drill hole.
3.
Assemble the mounting bracket using
appropriate screws.
4.
Position the motion detector on the
mounting bracket.
5.
Insert the ball joint in the recess on the
rear side of the motion detector.
6.
Align the motion detector using the ball
joint so that the scanning area of the
motion detector covers the area to be monitored.

Using the Motion Detector as a Doorbell
You can use the motion detector to chime as a doorbell. When
the motion detector detects a movement inside the scanning
area, it issues an acoustic signal.
Set the switch to C
HIME

Using the Motion Detector as an Alarm
You can set-up the motion detector so that it issues an acoustic
warning signal when it detects a movement inside the scanning
area.
Set the switch to A

LARM
Switching the Motion Detector Off
If you do not want to use the motion detector, e.g. during the
day, you can switch it off.
Set the switch to O
FF
. The motion detector is switched off.
Disposal
In order to dispose of your device, take it to a collection point
provided by your local public waste authorities (e.g. recycling
centre). According to laws on the disposal of electronic and
electrical devices, owners are obliged to dispose of old electronic
and electrical devices in a separate waste container. The symbol
indicates that the device must not be disposed of in normal domestic waste!
Risks to health and the environment from batteries! Never open,
damage or swallow batteries or allow them to pollute the environment. They
may contain toxic, ecologically hazardous heavy metals. You are legally
obliged to dispose of batteries at shops which sell batteries or at collection
points provided by the public waste authorities. Disposal is free of charge.
The symbols indicate that the batteries must not be disposed of in normal
domestic waste and that they must be brought to collection points provided
by local public waste authorities.
Packaging materials must be disposed of according to local
regulations.
Care Instructions
1.
Clean the surface of the housing with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use
and solvents or cleaning agents.
2.
Complete a function test once a month and after changing the battery.
3.
Change the battery once a year.
