Listening to the Radio

Setting the Stations
1. Switch the device on by pressing the POWER button
(1/36).
2. Use the FUNCTION button (30/42) to select the
TUNER mode in order to activate radio operation. The
display shows the radio frequency and the radio band
on the left
FM (MHz) and MW (KHz) = medium wave.
3. By pressing the BAND button (26/39) again you can
switch to another radio band. If you press the !/ I
TUNING/SKIP button (9/38) or the
SKIP button (9/47) once, you can change the frequen-
cy being received step by step. If the button is kept
pressed down, the fast search function is switched
on. The device starts an automatic station search.
As soon as a station has been found the automatic
station search stops.
4. If you have found the desired station, press the
PROG/MEM button (12/40). The word MEMORY
lights up and the station memory number fl ashes.
5. In order to determine the programme storage location,
press the
PRE-UP button (15/53) or the
button (17/43).
6. To store this position, press the PROG/MEM button
(12/40). Please note that the programme storage
location must be entered within fi ve seconds as the
procedure is then cancelled.
To select a stored station press the
PRE-DN button. With the help of the numerical
keys you can select the desired station memory
number.
Example: In order to play the station stored under 05
fi rst press the 0 numerical key - the fi gure "0-" fl ashes
- and then the 5 key. Station 17 can be heard by
pressing the 1 key followed by the 7 key.
7. For VHF/FM mode pull out the telescopic antenna (5)
and turn it to improve reception. The stereo control
lamp ST in the display only lights up if you have selec-
ted FM stereo and are receiving the station in stereo
quality. In the case of FM stations you can use the
ST./MONO button (27/49) to switch between MONO
and STEREO reception. Where reception is bad we
recommend switching to MONO.
8. An aerial is integrated into the device for the reception
of AM stations. The device can be turned to line it up
with the transmitter. In this frequency band programs
are transmitted in „mono" only.
9. Storage of the stations is deleted as soon as the
mains plug is removed from the socket or in the case
of a power cut if there are no power reserve batteries
inserted.

Cassette Operation

Playing Cassettes
1. In order to switch the device on please press the
POWER switch (1/36).
2. Now use the FUNCTION button (30/42) to select the
TAPE mode so that you can listen to a cassette.

cassette compartment (18).

4. Insert a recorded audiocassette into the compartment
with the tape opening facing upwards and the side you
wish to listen to facing the front (full spool to the right).
Then close the cassette compartment (19) again.

Recording Cassettes
1. Insert an audiocassette with the side on which you
wish to record facing forwards (full reel on the right).
Ensure that the cassette is not copy-protected (the
copy protection tab on the top narrow side of the
cassette must not have been removed).
PRE-DN
2. Select the recording source with the FUNCTION
button (30/42) and then start the source. The sound
source which you are listening to is the one from
which the recording is made. The recording level is
controlled automatically. Any changes to the sound
and volume do not affect the recording.
3. Please press the b record button (25) (the
PRE-UP or
playback button is automatically pressed down at
the same time). Recording now begins. All previous
recordings are automatically erased.
4. The recording can be interrupted briefl y using the
II pause key (20), or stopped by means of the
stop/eject button (21).
Proceed as follows in order to listen to a CD
1. Switch the device on by pressing the POWER button
(1/36).
2. Now use the FUNCTION button (30/42) to select CD
mode so that you can listen to a CD.
3. Please open the CD compartment (7) by pressing the
OPEN/CLOSE button (8). In the display (6) the word
„OPEN" appears.
4. Insert an audio CD with the printed side facing up-
wards on to the central cone so that the CD clicks into
place and then close the lid of the CD compartment.
AUDIO CDs:
In the display the symbols "Cd" and "ESP" appear to-
gether with the number of tracks and the total playing
time. Press the
CD. The CD is played from the fi rst track onwards.
The track currently being played and the time that has
elapsed are shown in the display. With the help of the
numeral buttons you can select the desired title/track.
Example: In order to play song number 05 please
press the 5 key: the fi gure "05" fl ashes. Start playback
with the
