5.1 Start-up and maintenance

a) Afterassemblingthestorageconnectionarmature
fill the storage tank. After aerating the safety valve
and checking the backflow inhibitor-

up the storage tankthere is an increase in pressure
as a result of the heat expansion of the water. In
this instance, ifthe set pressure ofthe safety valve
is exceeded, water leaks out.
b) Aeration of the safety valve

This is to be carried out on starting-up
henceforth semi-yearly for safety reasons accor-
ding to DIN EN 806-5.
c) Testing the backflow inhibitor
Put the storage tank under pressure. Shut-off
valve is open. Close shut-off valve and take off
or "tilt" the handle cover.
If necessary, lightly tighten the shut-off valve
with the standard-key SW 17 mm. Open the test
screw in the shut-off valve with
bitor 1069-6 using socket screwdriver SW4 for
approximately 5 revolutions. After a little amount
of water (the contents of the valve chamber),
no water should come. If cold water flows out,
open the shut-off valve and close again (wash
away any dirt). If hot water flows out, check the
seat and seal of the backflow inhibitor or change
the complete upper part 1069-6 (see g). After
a successful test - screw in the test screw
max. 3 Nm and open the shut-off valve. After-
wards, check for tightness and only then attach
the handle cap. This is to be carried out on star-
ting-up and henceforth for semi-yearly.
d) Testing the safety valve
Open the hot water valve at a tapping

drainage point so that air gets into the storage
tank. Turn the safety valve carefully to an open
position. The storage tank is emptied via the di-
scharge funnel.
f) Dismantling or changing the safety

Do not attempt to repair it yourself!
The lead seal must not be damaged, otherwise
BWT will withdraw its responsibility!

Shut off the cold water supply, drain the storage
tank. Close
handle cap. Replace the unit if damaged. Before
starting up, check the bacl<flow inhibitor (see c).

5.2 Refitting potential
