General information

These assembly and operating instructions describe the RSE Industri-
al - Set A. The instructions are intended for technicians that install and
maintain the product. The illustrations in these assembly and operating
instructions help you to better understand the descriptions and proce-
dures. The illustrations only serve as examples and may deviate slightly
from your product's actual appearance.
Explanation of symbols
DANGER
Danger
... indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in
death or serious injury.
WARNING
Warning
... indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in
death or serious injury.
Warning of electrical voltage!
This symbol indicates dangers to the life and health of persons
due to electrical voltage when handling the system.
Info!
Information marked with this symbol helps you to carry out
your tasks quickly and safely.
Read the assembly instructions carefully and observe the safe-
ty information in the Safety chapter.
Safety
Observe all the information specified regarding safety and intended use so
as to avoid a risk of injury due to the door system.
Personal qualification
The following persons are qualified to perform assembly work and to work
on the mechanical system (troubleshooting and repair):
• Skilled workers with relevant training, e.g. industrial mechanic. A skilled
worker is a person who, due to his/her professional training, knowledge
and experience as well as due to his/her knowledge of the relevant regula-
tions, is able to judge the work assigned to him/her as well as to identify
possible hazards.
The following persons are qualified to perform electrical installation work
and to work on the product's electrical system (troubleshooting, repair and
deinstallation):
• Skilled workers with relevant training, e.g. industrial mechanic. The
skilled workers must be able to read and understand electric circuit dia-
grams, to put electrical systems into service and to maintain them, to wire
control cabinets, to ensure the functionality of electrical components and
to identify possible hazards from electrical and electronic systems.
The following persons are authorised to handle the product:
• Operating personnel. The operator must have read and understood the
instructions and must be aware of the hazards associated with handling the
product and the door system. The operator must have been instructed with
regard to handling the door system.
Intended use
The product is intended for industrial use on doors for commercial and
industrial buildings. It can be used wherever optical, ohmic closing edge
safety devices or ohmic wicket door contacts are used. The product is com-
patible with Novoferm tormatic products only. Never make any modifica-
tions or changes to the product without the express written authorization
of the manufacturer.
Foreseeable misuse

Any use other than described in chapter Intended use is regarded as rea-
sonably foreseeable misuse. This includes but is not limited to:
- the use on sliding doors or barriers.
- the connection of safety devices other than those mentioned in the
chapter "Technical data".
- Any damage or injury as a result of reasonably foreseeable misuse or of
not following the assembly and operating instructions will render the
manufacturer's liability null and void.

Installation

Pull out the main plug from the mains socket before you open
the cover of the door control or door drive.
WARNING
Fire hazard due to damage to the battery!
Damages to the battery can cause unpredictable events and
lead to fire, explosion or risk of injuries. Observe the following
instructions:
- Do not use a damaged battery.
- Do not charge the battery.
- Protect the battery from moisture.
- Never heat the battery.
- Never short-circuit battery contacts.
- Do not disassemble or modify the battery.
Have the instructions for the door control or door drive ready.
