nection R

7. Assembly

It is necessary during installation to follow the installa-
tion instructions, to comply with local requirements and
to follow the codes of good practice.

7.1 Installation guidelines

• Install in horizontal pipework with discharge connec-
tion directed downwards
• The installation may not take place in areas or ducts
where poisonous gases or vapours may be present
or where flooding can occur
• The installation location must be ventilated well
• The installation location should be protected against
frost and be easily accessible
o Simplified maintenance and cleaning
o Pressure gauge at the pressure reducing valve
can be read off easily
• Provide a straight section of pipework of at least five
times the nominal valve size after the pressure redu-
cing valve (in accordance with DIN 1988, Part 5)
• The refilling combination has an integrated strainer
- no separate strainer necessary
o Refilling combination is protected against mal-
function and corrosion damage resulting from in-
gress of foreign bodies, e.g. welding beads,
sealing materials, metal cuttings and rust

7.2 Installation

To avoid stagnating water the refilling combina-
tion must be attached as directly as possible to
the service pipe!
The rules of the drinking water regulation must
be considered during the assembly!
1. Thoroughly flush pipework
2. Install refilling combination
• Install in horizontal pipework with discharge connec-
tion directed downwards
• Note flow direction (indicated by arrow)
• Install without tension or bending stresses
3. Provide a straight section of pipework of at least five
times the nominal size after the refilling combination
4. Attach drain pipe to discharge connection (plastic
pipe HT 50)

8. Commissioning

8.1 Filling and aerating of system

1. Slowly open ball valves on inlet and outlet
Because of casual fluctuation of pressure drip-
ping water at discharge valve can occur!
This is no malfunction and therefore no reason
for complaint!

8.2 Set outlet pressure

Pressure reducing valve is set to 1.5 bar by fac-
tory.
The pressure of the system should be at least 2
bar above the set outlet pressure.
1. Close ball valve on inlet and outlet
2. Release pressure on outlet side
o e.g. loosen the closing plug 1
o afterwards screw in closing plug again
3. Loosen slotted screw
o Do not remove slotted screw
4. Slacken tension in compression spring
o Turn control handle to the left (-) until it does not
move any more
5. Slowly open ball valves on inlet
6. Turn adjuster knob until the pressure gauge shows
the desired value
7. Retighten slotted screw
8. Slowly open ball valve on outlet

9. Maintenance

Maintenance from backflow preventer should
only be carried out by authorised personnel!

9.1 Inspection

• Frequency: every 6 month (depending on lo-
cal operating conditions)
• To be carried out by an installation company
• Inspection with a test control unit and mainte-
nance-set (see accessories)

9.1.1 Operation check pressure reducing valve

1. Close shut off valve on outlet
2. Check outlet pressure on pressure gauge when no
flow is occurring
o If pressure slowly rises, the valve may be dirty or
damaged. Proceed as described under
maintenace and cleaning
3. Slowly open ball valve on outlet
