UKVS 230
UKVS 230 is intended to be used for heat storage when a
smaller heat pump is docked with solar panels. It is also
possible to dock another heat source.

Junction box with relays blocks the immersion heater in NIBE
SPLIT when the charge pump is in operation. This is to pre-
vent the risk of immersion heated water coming into the
UKVS tank. If the temperature in the UKVS tank is sufficiently
high the heat pump's compressor is blocked and the solar
energy is also available for radiator heating.

The Solar controller starts and stops the solar pump GP4
when the sun heats the solar panels. If the temperature in
the solar panel is greater than the temperature in the bottom
of the UKVS tank the solar pump starts. If the temperature
in the solar panel approaches the temperature in the tank
the pump stops. This process continues until the temperature
in the tank reaches the desired value. When the temperature
in the top of the UKVS tank is higher than the temperature
in NIBE SPLIT, the pump in MCU 10 starts and heat is trans-
ferred from the tank to the heat pump. When the temperat-
ure difference falls, the pump in MCU 10 stops. If the tem-
perature in the tank is high enough and the temperature in
NIBE SPLIT is high enough, the compressor in the heat pump
is blocked and all heating is by solar heating. The conditions
for the temperature in NIBE SPLIT are set in order to maintain
good hot water comfort even with solar heating. The trans-
ferred output from the tank to the heat pump is 8 kW while
the heat pump gives 8 or 12 kW. This means that it takes a
longer time to heat the tank in NIBE SPLIT using solar heating
than using the heat pump. If you want to benefit from solar
heating set the temperature for (BT24) to 15 °C which makes
the condition ineffectual. See chapter Settings on page 11.
