Application
The Snap-on CTSG861 is a cordless soldering gun with
three (3) temperature settings and an anti-tip safety
feature.
General Instructions for Use
CAUTION
1.
— Soldering gun tip and tube are hot
during soldering and after soldering for several
minutes. Do not touch tip or tube to avoid burning or
damage to surroundings.
2. Install desired tip by unscrewing the silver tip
attachment nut and tube. DO NOT remove the black
collar. This housing nut is permanently affixed and
should not be removed to replace soldering tips.
3. Replace tip and reassemble collar and nut.
4. Turn unit on with the switch at the top of the unit. The
LED lights will remain ON whenever this switch is in the
ON position. Also, the green power LED on the unit
rear will be ON.
5. Select the desired temperature by pressing the
temp adjust button on the rear of the unit. The
default is 450 degrees F. One press is 650 deg, the
second press yields 750 deg.
6. While the unit is heating, the orange temp LED
will flash. When it is up to the desired
temperature, it will be solid ON.
7. While the unit is upright, such as when it is sitting
on a bench, the unit will remain on idefinitely.
However, if the unit is tipped, it will begin to cool
and the orange temp LED will go out.
8. If soldering in an non upright condition is desired,
the operator must touch the front area of the gun
in the area where "touch here" is written. By
touching in that area, the control over rides the
anti tip safety feature and will continue to heat
indefinitely.
9. Periodic tip maintenance is required. Clean tip with a
wet sponge or wire pad while tip is still hot. Replace
tips when they are damaged. See parts breakdown for
replacement tips.

Fuel Gauge

The tool is equipped with a fuel gauge to indicate the
battery's state of charge. It is located in the center of the
tool along the housing seam at the top of the handle. A
round bi-color LED changes color depending on state of
charge. The gauge is activated for three seconds at each
trigger pull. The following describes its function:
• LED IS GREEN - Battery is between 55% and 100%
charged
• LED IS YELLOW - Battery is between 25% and 55%
charged
• LED IS RED - Battery is below 25%
• LED IS FLASHING RED - Battery needs charging
immediately

Battery Charging

1. If charger is supplied with a separate charger cord,
plug cord into charger.
2. Plug the other end of charger into the AC power source.
3. Insert battery pack in charger. Press lightly on battery
pack until it stops. The charger is equipped with a 4-LED
fuel gauge that indicates 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%
state of charge. When the battery makes contact, all 4
green LEDs on the fuel gauge of the charger will flash
twice and then the charger will step through the 4 LEDs
and stop at the one flashing green LED that signifies the
battery state of charge and that the battery is charging.
4. Certain built-in safety protections may lock the charger
off. If no charger light illuminates, remove the battery
and unplug the charger for 10 minutes. Plug the charger
back in and insert a known good battery. If no light
comes on the charger is faulty and must be replaced.
