With the SIXTOL SX ONE and SX FIVE diagnostic devices, users can not only read and clear these errors but also
monitor Live Data for more efficient diagnostics and prevention of future issues.
What is the function of I/M Button:
The I/M (Inspection/Maintenance) button on the SIXTOL SX ONE and SIXTOL SX FIVE diagnostic devices is used
for a quick inspection of the vehicle's emissions status according to OBD II standards.
Functions of the I/M Button:
Immediate Emission Readiness Check – When pressed, the device displays the status of individual emission
system monitors (e.g., catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, evaporative fuel system, etc.).
Quick Detection of Error Codes – In case of a fault, the button helps users easily identify potential problems
related to emissions.
Using the I/M button is ideal before a vehicle inspection (MOT), as it helps detect possible issues with the
emission system before undergoing an official test.
Options Displayed After Connecting the Diagnostic Tool to a Vehicle:
Read Fault Codes
This function allows you to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the engine control unit (ECU).
The diagnostic tool displays the specific fault code (e.g., P0420 – Catalytic Converter Efficiency Below
Threshold) along with a brief description.
Helps identify problems related to the engine, emissions, and other OBD II-supported systems.
Clear Fault Codes
Enables the deletion of diagnostic trouble codes from the ECU memory after repairs.
Once cleared, the Check Engine Light (MIL) may turn off if the issue has been resolved.
Note: If the problem is not fixed, the error may reappear after some time.
Stored Data
This function allows you to save previously retrieved fault codes or vehicle operation records for later
analysis.
The user can review past diagnostic information without needing to reconnect the tool.
Emission Readiness / I/M Readiness
Displays the status of emission monitors, which check if the vehicle meets emission regulations.
Helps determine whether the vehicle is ready for an emissions test (e.g., MOT, STK).
Monitors key components such as the catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, and evaporative emissions
system (EVAP).
Vehicle Information
This function retrieves basic vehicle information from the ECU, including:
VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
ECU calibration data
Supported diagnostic protocols
Useful for verifying vehicle compatibility with the diagnostic tool.
Measurement Units
Allows switching between different measurement units, such as:
Kilometers (km) vs. Miles (miles)
Celsius (°C) vs. Fahrenheit (°F)
Liters (L) vs. Gallons (Gal)
Ensures data customization based on user preferences.
Live Data / Data Stream
Enables real-time monitoring of engine sensor values and other components, such as: Engine RPM, Coolant
temperature, Air intake volume, Intake manifold pressure, Oxygen sensor voltage, and more
Allows detailed diagnostics of issues that may not trigger a fault code.
