Open the Fuelcasebypoppingthe doorlatch overthecatch
and rotate the dooropen.
Install three AAA batteries according to the polarity
markings on the inside of the cabinet. Observe proper
battery polarity when installing the batteries. mproper
installationof the batteries will damagethe light andvoid
the warranty.
Rotatethe door to the closed position, squeezethe body
betweenyourforefingersandthumbto Fredthe doorlatch
over the catch.
WARNING
• Never mix fresh and used batteries.
• Nevermix differentbatterybrandsor chemistry
types.
• Always removedrainedbatteriesimmediately.
• Remove batteries during ong periods of storage.
NOTE: R echargeable NiCadorNiMH batteriesmayresult
in reducedbrightnessdue to lower nominalvoltage.
Switch Operation — SeeFigure 2
The Fred has two light sources to choose from, 1 red
Ultrabright LEDor 3 white Ultrabright LEDs. Each light
sourcehas two modes(Highand Low).
• To switch between the Red LED and the 3 wh'te
-Pressandholdthe buttonuntil the light sourcechanges.
Release the buttonwhenthe appropriate sourceis lit. The
light will remainonthis LED source(allowingyou to cycle
thoughthe modes)until you decideto change•t.
• Modes (High and Low) are selected by pressing and
releasingthe button within 1.5 secondsof the previous
button press. If more than two seconds has passed
sincethe previousbutton pressthe nextpress will turn
the light off.
• There are two ways to turn the Fredoff. Youcan cycle
throughthe modesuntil you reachoff, or if the light has
beenon for morethan two seconds the next buttonpress
will turn the light off,
• Noteaboutchangingbatteriesfor lightswith RedorGreen
5mm Ultrabright:Toensurethe UltrabrightLEDs turn on
first, removethe old batteries,pressand holdthe button
down for threesecondsto discharge the capacitoron the
circuit. Install the new batteries and close the battery
door.The light will now defaultto the Ultrabrightturning
on first.

Power Consumption
Refer to the burn time chart for performance data for
different batterytypes andmodesettings.
* *Princeton Tec calculates total burn time as the time
takesfor the light sourceto producea minimumof 0.25 lux
at 2 meters. 0.25 luxis aboutthe equivalentof a full moon
on a clear night.

Troubleshooting
If the Fredfai s to light:
• Checkthe batteriesfor properinstallation.
LEDs
• Replacebatteriesif properinstallationis confirmedCheck
circuit board for water. The light will resume normal
operationoncethe water is shakenor blown out andthe
light is left openuntil completelydry. f the light has been
contaminated with salt water, flush the unit with fresh
water anddryas describedabove.

WARRANTY — PrincetonTecwarrants this product to be
free from defects in workmanship and materials under
normal use for 5 years. This warranty covers all of the
component parts of the product except batteries. This
warranty does not cover deterioration due to normal
wear or damagedue to misuse, alteration, negligence,
accidents,or unauthorized repair. PrincetonTecwill repair
or replace parts which are defective in workmanship or
materials.
Your authorized Princeton Tec Dealer and Princeton Tec are
the only facilities authorizedto repair the product. After
(3) unsuccessfulattempts (within the warranty period) to
repair the product,you havethe right to elect replacement
of the product or a refund of the purchase price less
allowance for use of the product. NO INCIDENTAL OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARE INCLUDED IN THIS
