Thank you
for
purchasing
the
Sony
ECM-717
Electret
Condenser Microphone.
Some
features
are:
•
High
performance compact
size
stereo
microphone
compatible
with
digital
recording.
•
High
sensitivity electret
condenser type
microphone
capsules
with
excellent transient
quality.
•
A
selection
can be
made
from
two power
supply
systems;
the
plug
in
power
system*
and
the
use of
the
battery.
•
Equipped
with
the
stand
and
clip,
the unit
can be placed
on
top of a
table or
clipped onto
your
clothes.
•
The
system
whose power
is
supplied
directly to
the
microphone from
the
microphone
jack of the
connected equipment.

battery

Open
the battery
compartment
lid
using
the
tip
of a
mechanical
pencil,
etc.,
as
illustrated.

Insert
one
LR44
alkaline
manganese
dioxide
battery
(not
supplied)
with
correct
polarity.

Close
the battery
compartment
lid
firmly.
Battery
life
Approximately.
100
hours with an
alkaline
manganese
dioxide
battery
(LR44)
The
red
lamp
lights
up
dimly
or goes
out
when
the battery
is
weak.
If
this
happens,
replace the battery
with
a
new
one.
To
avoid unnecessary
battery
wear and
battery leakage,
be
sure
to
set
the
POWER
switch
to
the
OFF
position
after use.
Using the
microphone

Plug
the
microphone
into
the
microphone
jack of
your
tape
recorder,
etc.

Set the
POWER
switch
to
"ON.
"
The
red
lamp on
the
microphone
will flash.
•
When
using with
a
Sony
tape
recorder
whose
microphone
jack
is
marked
PLUG
IN
POWER.
In this case,
make
sure
that
the
POWER
switch on
the
microphone
is
set to
the
OFF
position.
•
If
it
is
difficult to
slide the
POWER
switch,
try to
slide
it
with
vour
finger
nail.
Using the
clip
(See
Fig.
H)
To place
the
microphone
on
top
of a
desk,
etc
Bend
the
joint
section of the
microphone (where
the
connecting cord
exits)
and
use
this
part as a stand.
To
clip
the
microphone
on
to
your
tie
or
breast
pocket
etc.
Use
the
clip
on
the
back
of the
microphone
to
attach the
microphone
to
your
tie
or pocket,
etc.
Precautions
•
If
the
microphone
is
placed too
near
the loud-speakers, acoustic
feedback
(a
howling
effect)
may
occur.
If
this
happens,
change
the direction
of
the
microphone
until
the
howling
stops,
or
decrease
the
speaker volume.
•
Do
not
leave the
microphone
in
a
location subject
to
direct
sunlight,
heat or moisture.
•
The microphone
should never
be
dropped
or subjected
to
extreme
shock.
•
When
using outdoors, avoid
getting the
microphone
wet.
Notes
on
the battery
•
Keep
the battery
out
of the
reach of
children.
•
Should
the battery
be
swallowed, immediately
consult
a doctor.
•
Wipe
the battery
with
a
dry
cloth to
assure a
good
contact.
•
Be
sure
to
observe
the correct
polarity
when
installing
the
battery.
•
Do
not hold
the battery
with
metallic tweezers,
otherwise
a
short-circuit
may
occur.
