6. Connection
6-1. DC12V Input Terminal
1) Be sure to switch off this unit and the external power supply unit, before you will connect and
disconnect the power cable.
2) Cable Specification (Peel off the cover from the 10-mm cable end.)
Solid wire
: 50.4 - 51.0 (AWG26 - 18)
Flexible wire : 0.3mm? - 0.75mm? (AWG22 - 20)
3) Hold down the [— ] part of the terminal block with a small bladed screwdriver or the like. Insert
the wire into the connecting hole. Do the same for pulling out the wire. A solid wire with its conduc-
tor diameter of 0.8 - 1.0 mm can be connected simply by inserting it in the hole.
NOTES:
a)Be carefui not to confuse the + and - terminals. The unit does not work if wrongly
wired.
b) Keep the DC input voltage in the 10.5 - 15 V range.
c) Use the specified wires. Too thick or thin wires cannot be properly connected.
4) Finally pull the wires gently to see if they do not come off.
6-2. Typical connections with other equipment
Note: Do not connect any other
equipment in between.

7. Operation
7-1. Power Switch and Indicator
1) When the wiring is finished, turn the power switch ON.
When everythig is OK, the indicator light up.
If the indicator does not light up, or starts blinking, check the following points.
2) If the indicator does not light up, the power is not supplied.
a) Check the power supply unit.
b) Check the power cable and the DC12V input terminal.
3) If the indicator is blinking (at intervals of about 0.25 sec), a communication error happens be-
tween a camera and the RSU-871.
a) See if the power of a camera is on.
b) Check the coaxial cable from the camera.
(connection point, connector edge, cable breakage, etc.)
c) Check the setting of CABLE COMP switch.
7-2. Communication with a control unit
(For details, refer to the Protocol Specification.)
1) Set the control unit (PC, etc.) subject to the condition of the RSU-871.
In case of any control trouble, check the following points.
|
2) in case of no response from the RSU-871.
a) Check the setting of the communication condition (baud rate, bit number, etc.) of the control
unit (PC, etc.)
b) Check the RS-232C cable. (Disconnection, wrong connection of the pins)
3) In case of only NAK (15H) response from the RSU-871.
a) Check the text of the command parameter.
All commands must be written in small English characters (a, b, c, - - -, x).
Any parameter which exceeds its capacity will be ignored.
b) Check the BCC (block check characters) calculation method of the command.
The command characters of BCC calculation are from ETX to XOR (STX not included).
C) If there is an AC power cable near the RS-232C cable, it might cause some noise.
In this case, keep the RS-232C cable apart from other cables. Under the noisy circumstance,
the baud rate of 4800bps may alleviate the noise problem.
4) In case of only DC4 (14H) response from the RSU-871.
a) See if the indicator is blinking (every 0.25 sec) or not.
If so, there is a communication error between the RSU-871 and a camera.
5) In case of ACK response from the RSU-871, but impossible to change the camera setting.
a) Check the setting data of the camera and RSU-871.
Normaily the RSU-871 identifies the camera automatically. No camera setting command is
necessary.
If the camera setting command is wrong, it is impossible to change the camera setting.
b) It is impossible to use the RSU-871 with the ICD-700.
