CONNECTION AND COMMISSIONING
1.
Switch off your computer.
2.
Connect the VGA plug of the video converter to the VGA output of your com-
puter.
3.
If you want to play back the computer's audio signal directly via the HDMI out-
put of the video converter, connect the 3.5 mm jack plug to the analogue audio
output of the sound card.
4.
The video converter is supplied with power via the USB plug. Connect it to the
USB port of your computer.
5.
The USB port must be able to provide a current of 500 mA. Use one of the USB
ports on the back of the PC, for example.
6.
Then connect the HDMI socket of the video converter to the HDMI input of the
monitor using an HDMI cable.
2
7.
Switch on the monitor and computer. The power LED of the video converter
starts to light up.
8.
If your monitor has multiple inputs, you may need to select the HDMI input befo-
re you can see an image on the computer. When the video converter recognises
a connected HDMI device, the blue LED lights up.
The video converter does not require any driver installation, as the analo-
gue VGA signal is converted to an HDMI signal on the hardware side. The
converter is therefore not dependent on the operating system used.
Almost any standard VGA resolution can be converted into an HDMI si-
gnal. As there are numerous graphics cards that send different signals
and signal levels, some resolutions may not be convertible. In such a
case, try a higher or lower resolution. The refresh rate should also be
reduced to 60Hz if it is set to 75Hz, for example.
Playback of digital data carriers (DVD, Blu-ray) may not be possible as
it requires a digital graphics card with HDCP support in the computer.
Nevertheless, the converter converts the analogue VGA signal from the
computer (without HDCP support) into an HDMI signal. But as part of
the operating principle, it is not possible to play back such data carriers if the PC
only has an analogue graphics card whose signal is converted externally into a
digital one.
Select the correct output for audio playback in the operating system:
Windows: Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab; set as default device;
Mac: System Preferences > Sounds > Output tab; set as default output
device
Otherwise, it will not be possible to play the audio signals via HDMI. Also make sure
that the 3.5 mm jack plug is connected to the correct connection on the computer.
(e.g. labelled „Audio Out" or „Line Out")
