TESTER OPERATION:
This oxygen sensor tester is a sensitive, high impedance
device. For this reason, when turning the tester on or
during a heavy static buildup the sensor light may flash
"ON". This is normal operation for an instrument with its
sensitivity and impedance.
1. Install battery (refer to battery installation
procedures).
2. Locate oxygensensor. It is generally located in the
exhaust manifold or in the exhaust pipe before the
catalytic converter.
3. Connect red lead to output wire of oxygen sensor.

NOTE: The red lead contains a special wire-piercing
connector called the Bed of Nails.
To use this connector:
A. Place the signal wire of the oxygen sensor in
between the needles and the block.
B. Gently squeeze the connector on the wire to insure
the needles have pierced the insulation and made a
good connection.

CAUTION:
If your oxygen sensor has more than one wire
refer to service manual for proper wire hookup.
Incorect wire hookup may cause damage to tester
or vehicle computer.
4. Connect the black lead to a good engine ground
(e.g. negative terminal on vehicle´s battery) Fig. C.
It may be necessary to separate the leads to reach
a good ground. Gently pull the wires apart to gain
extra length needed to make the connection.
5. Place tester inside of vehicle on driver´s side.
CAUTION:
Assure that both leads are away from any
moving parts or any area that may cause damage
to wiring, or vehicle components.
6. Start vehicle and run for 5 minutes.
7. While seated in vehicle, turn on tester
(The "Power ON" light should be lit).
8. The "Sensor Light" should flash ON and OFF
(This may be an intermittent or rapid flash).
NOTE:
It may be necessary to snap the throttle to
observe the flashing of the "Sensor Light".
9. If the "Sensor Light" flashes, the oxygensensor
is okay.
10. If the "Sensor Light" stays off continuously, the
sensor is not functioning, and needs to be replaced.
11. If the "Sensor Light" stays on continuously, this
indicates the car is running rich. Refer to your
service manual for proper diagnosis.
