Operation, connection
Connect the card reader to the USB3.0 port of your computer using the USB cable
provided. You need not turn off your computer for this step.
The power LED of the card reader lights up once the card reader has been connected
properly.
The operating system recognizes new hardware and installs the necessary drivers
automatically; they are part of the operating system.
If your computer does not feature a USB3.0 port, you may also connect the
card reader to a USB2.0/1.1 port, which will nevertheless not allow for fast
dater transfer.
Inserting/removing memory cards
Important!
In order to use SDXC memory cards with Windows XP operating system,
Windows XP requires an update. Only after that can the "exFAT" file system
of SDXC memory cards be supported.
Download the update from www.microsoft.com. Enter keywords such as
"exfat windows xp" into the search bar of your browser in order to find the
update.
When using Windows Vista you must have at least Service Pack 1 installed
in order to support SDXC memory cards through the card reader.
Later Windows versions support the "exFAT" file system of SDXC memory
cards directly (e.g. Windows 7 or later).
Insert a memory card into the respective slot of the card reader (see markings on the
card reader). While doing so, observe the correct direction of the memory card and
do not use any force!
It is not possible to use SD and micro SD cards simultaneously.
For that reason, do only insert either an SD card or a micro SD card into the
slot of the card reader.
In order to remove a memory card from the card reader (or in order to disconnect
the card reader from the computer), wait until all reading/writing operations on the
card have been completed. You may only then remove the memory card from the card
reader.
Disconnecting the memory card from the card reader (or disconnecting the
card reader from the computer) while reading/writing operations are still in
process can result in the corruption of data stored on the memory card and
might even require a new formatting of the memory card.
Reading/writing data on memory cards
A memory card inserted in the card reader will be integrated like a normal removable
storage drive. Use, for example, the Windows file manager to read (or to store) data on
the memory card, similar to the use of USB hard drives or USB sticks.
The maximum available speed for reading/writing data on the memory card depends
on the memory card used. When using slow memory cards or writing data on such
cards it is common that the data transfer rate is not higher when connecting the card
reader to a USB3.0 port compared to a conventional USB2.0 port.
Maintenance and cleaning
This product does not require maintenance. Maintenance or repairs may be carried
out by a professional only.
Use a clean, soft, dry cloth to clean the product. You can easily remove dust using a
clean, soft brush or a vacuum cleaner.
Do not use any aggressive, chemical or abrasive cleaning agents as these may cause
surface discoloration or even changes in the material.
