OPERATIONS
BEFORE BEGINNING OPERATIONS
Set the controls and switches as follows: See page 6.
1. Set POWER switch (1) to ON.
2. Press SPEAKERS A selector switch (2), SPEAKERS B
selector switch (3), or both switches.
3. Set DIRECT switch @) and MUTING switch (8) to off.
PLAYBACK PROCEDURES
. Set INPUT SELECTOR switch ©) to the desired
playback source.
e For playback with the equipment connected to LINE terminals:
Set to [LINE]. .
e For reception of an AM/FM broadcast: Set to [TUNER].
e For playback of a record: Set to [PHONO].
Set PHONO SELECTOR switch @ to MM (4) or MC (=)
according to the type of cartridge being used. (A-449 only)
e For playback of a compact disc: Set to [CD].
e For playback of a tape: Set to [DAT/TAPE 1] or [TAPE 2].
. Operate the equipment to begin playback.
. Adjust playback volume with VOLUME CONTROL ©)
on this unit.

RECORDING TAPES
1. Select the recording equipment with REC SELECTOR
switch (4).
e When set to SOURCE, the signals from the device connected to
the terminals of the selected input are recorded. (To record signals
from the device connected to PHONO or LINE terminals, for
instance set REC SELECTOR switch to SOURCE and set INPUT
SELECTOR switch to PHONO or LINE accordingly.)
e Recording is impossible when the switch is set to OFF.
NOTE:
When REC SELECTOR switch is set to a position other than SOURCE
or OFF, the equipment selected by REC SELECTOR switch can be
recorded from, irrespective of the settings of INPUT SELECTOR or
DIRECT switches. .
2. Begin recording by operating the recording equipment.
Refer to the operating instructions for your tape deck for proper
operating procedures.
MONITOR WHILE OPERATING
On a 3-head tape deck, sound can be concurrently heard while recording
on tape. This operation of checking the sound quality and recording level
is called ''monitoring."' For monitoring, INPUT SELECTOR switch of this
unit must be set to the tape deck on which recording is being done.
e When recording with the tape deck connected to DAT/TAPE 1
terminals: Set to DAT/TAPE 1.
e When recording with the tape deck connected to TAPE 2 terminals:
Set to TAPE 2.
NOTE:
When recording from PHONO or LINE source, recording monitor is not
possible.

Régler comme suit les commandes et commutateurs: Voir page 6.
1. Régler l'interrupteur d'alimentation (POWER) () sur la
position ON.
. Appuyer sur la sélecteur de systéme d'enceintes A
(SPEAKERS A) @) , sur le sélecteur de systeme
d'enceintes B (SPEAKERS B) (8) ou sur les deux.
. Régler le commutateur DIRECT (2) et le commutateur
de mise en sourdine (MUTE) (8) sur la position arrét.

PROCEDURE DE REPRODUCTION
. Régler le sélecteur d'entrée (INPUT SELECTOR) (5) sur
la source de reproduction désirée.
e Pour une reproduction avec l'appareil raccordé aux bornes LINE:
Régler sur [LINE].
e Pour la réception d'une émission AM/FM: Régler sur [TUNER].
e Pour la reproduction d'un disque: Régler sur [PHONO].
Régler le sélecteur phono (PHONO SELECTOR) () sur la position
(HL) ou MC (.) en fonction du type de cellule utilisé. (A-449
seulement)
e Pour la reproduction d'un compact disc: Régler sur [CD].
e Pour la reproduction d'une bande: Régler sur [DAT/TAPE 1] ou
[TAPE 2].
. Faire fonctionner l'appareil pour démarrer la
reproduction.
. Régler le volume de reproduction avec la commande
de volume (VOLUME CONTROL) (6) de cet appareil.

ENREGISTREMENT DE BANDES

. Sélectionner l'appareil d'enregistrement avec le
sélecteur d'enregistrement (REC SELECTOR) (4).
e Lorsqu'il est réglé sur SOURCE, les signaux de |'appareil raccordé
aux bornes de l'entrée sélectionnée sont enregistrés. (Pour
enregistrer des signaux de l'appareil raccordé aux bornes PHONO
ou LINE, par exemple, régler le sélecteur d'enregistrement REC
SELECTOR sur SOURCE et régler le sélecteur d'entrée (INPUT
SELECTOR) sur la position PHONO ou LINE).
e L'enregistrement est impossible lorsque le sélecteur est réglé sur
la position OFF.
REMARQUE:
Lorsque ce sélecteur est rég/é sur une position autre que SOURCE ou
OFF, un enregistrement peut étre effectué depuis l'appareil sélectionné
par le sélecteur REC, quels que soient les réglages du sélecteur INPUT
et du commutateur DIRECT.
2. Démarrer l'enregistrement en faisant fonctionner
l'appareil d'enregistrement.

procédures correctes.
