Installation and operating instructions
DS-RC Radio Switch
Art-no.: 0157.0832
1. General
1.1 Application
The radio transmission of the DS-RC radio switchs takes
place at the European harmonised frequency of 868.3 MHz.
They are particularly suitable for areas where no repairs are
required, such as renovations, retrofitting of electrical sy-
stems or offices with mobile walls. By pressing a button, con-
sumers can be switched wirelessly through receivers.
The radio switchs must be assigned to the receivers. There-
fore, refer to the receivers operating instructions. Every radio
switch can control an indefinite number of receivers.
Notes:
– The radio switchs function without batteries and are maintenance-free !
– Read through the operating instructions carefully before
putting the device into service.
1.3 Disposal of the device
The device must be disposed of in compliance with the laws and standards of the
country in which it is operated!
2. Safety
This device is only intended to be used for its stated application. Unauthorised conver-
sions, modifications or changes are not permissible! This device may not be used in
conjunction with other devices whose operation could present a hazard to persons,
animals or property.
The following must be observed:
• Prevailing statutes, standards and regulations.
• State-of-the-art technology at the time of installation.
• The device's operating instructions.
• Operating instructions can only cite general stipulations. These are to be viewed in
the context of a specific system.

Note:
The strength of the radio signal between sender and receiver decreases with incre-
asing distance. The visually unobstructed range is about 30 m in passageways and
100 m in open rooms. The range can be increased through the use of an repeater.
4. Structure and description
The radio switchs are to be completed with the combination frames of the according
switch programme. The combination frames have to be ordered separately!
The following variations of radio switchs are available:

5.1 Note on installation
• Do not use in the open (only within closed rooms).
• Before the installation on rough surfaces, a smooth surface has to be created.
Unevenness may lead to radio switch's malfunctions.
• When installing, mind the required position of installation shown on the back of
the radio switch (O = top , I = bottom) (1).
• Do NEVER install the radio switch within a metal body or in the immediate vicinity
of big metal objects. An installation near or on the ground is not recommendable.
5.2 Mounting
a)
Screws:
• Retaining plates (4) shall be used as a template to mark the drill holes.
• Drill dowel holes of 5 mm.
• Fix the retaining plate with included screws. The latches of the retainin plate
have to be positioned for their installation as shown under point 4.
• Engage radio switch (2) and frame (3) on the retaining plate.
b)
Gluing:
• Engage radio switch (2) and frame (3) on the retaining plate (4).
• Use adhesive strips for the installation on flat, smooth surfaces (such as
painted walls, tiles, furniture, wood, etc.) Glue the adhesive strip to both
the upper and lower recess on the indentation of the retaining plate.
• Use adhesive film for the installation on glass. Glue the adhesive film to the
inverse side of the retaining plate.
• Glue the assembled radio switch to the desired place.
5.3 Commissioning
• Installation of the receiver (only by an electrician).
• Assign radio switch to receiver.
6. Troubleshooting & remedies
6.1 New system or existing system
• Check the immediate surroundings of the systems for changes that might cause
malfunctions (for example, previously moved metal cabinets, furniture or walls).
• If radio switch/receiver work at a closer distance, there either might be interference
or the system was used outside the transmission range.
• Placement of the radio switch at a more convenient location.
6.2 Radio signal range limitations
• Use of the radio switch/receiver in the vicinity of metal objects or materials with
metal components. Maintain a distance of at least 10 cm.
• Moist materials.
• Devices which emit high-frequency signals (e.g. audio and video systems, compu-
ters, electronic ballasts in lightfixtures). Maintain a distance of at least 0.5 m.
