1. General
Before starting to use the machine you need to read and fully understand the manual!!!
This manual contains important information about the proper way of installing, operating and
maintaining the equipment described in this manual. When using a cable hoist there is a variety of
risks that may occur, resulting in personal injuries or property damage. Everyone who is involved
with the installation, maintenance or operation of the cable hoist must be fully familiar with the
contents of this manual. To protect yourself against personal injury or property damage you need to
follow the following information and instructions in this manual.
Every Torso cable hoist is manufactured in accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
Every cable hoist is supplied with a manual including a declaration of conformity. These must be
stored and kept up to date properly.
Because of quality reasons constant improvements are going to be made on the equipment,
Valkenpower BV (holder "Torso") reserves the right to alter specifications of the equipment
described in this manual.
Intended use
This cable hoist is specifically designed for moving loads in vertical way (lifting). It is at all times
forbidden to move/lift people with the cable hoist.
2. Safety rules
1. Only a qualified/specialized person, who understands the manual and risks of the winch is
allowed to install the winch.
2. Make sure you read and understand the entire contents of this user manual before you start
using the winch, failure to heed these instructions may cause serious injuries and/or damage
to materials/machine.
3. Do not exceed rated capacity of the cable hoist, this could cause serious damage to
materials/properties and/or serious injuries.
4. Intermittent use only. Allow hoist to cool between uses.
5. Do not use winch to pull or move people in any way.
6. NEVER cut, weld, or modify any part of the winch or cable.
7. A minimum of 5 wraps of cable around the drum barrel is necessary for pulling and holding
the rated load.
8. Avoid "shock loads" by using the control switch intermittently to take up the slack in the wire
rope. "Shock loads" can far exceed the rate capacity for the wire rope and drum.
9. Use gloves to protect hands when handling the cable. Never let the cable slide through your
hands.
10. Inspect the wire rope and equipment before each use. A frayed or damaged rope must be
replaced immediately. Use only the manufacturer's replacement rope with the exact
specifications.
11. Inspect the hoist installation and bolts to ensure that all bolts are tight before each
operation.
