3.1

Authorized use

The internal cone grabber (KIG) is used exclusively for picking up symmetrical and asymmetrical shaft
cones.
It must be ensured that the gripping range and the load capacity of the device are not exceeded.
This device has been specially designed for heavy-duty use on a forklift truck or crane.
The setting process for fresh gripping goods (shaft cones) must be so far advanced that the gripping
goods to be picked up can withstand the required clamping forces of the device.
The device must not be used for lifting or pulling stuck shaft cones!
Lifting damaged shaft cones with the device is prohibited!
Only sufficiently set and crack-free shaft cones may be transported!
Otherwise there is a risk of the load or parts of the load falling!
Permissible gripping range: 625 – 800 mm (24½´´ – 31½´´)
Working load limit (WLL): 2000 kg (4400 lbs)
ATTENTION: The use of this device is only permitted in proximity to the ground (→ chapter
"Safety at work" and "Explanation of basic concepts").
NON-PERMITTED ACTIVITIES:
Unauthorized modifications to the device or the use of any self-made additional devices endanger life
and limb and are therefore strictly prohibited!
Load capacities (WLL) of the device must not be exceeded and nominal widths/gripping ranges
must not be exceeded or fallen short of.
All non-intended transports with the device are strictly prohibited:
•
the transport of people and animals.
•
gripping and transporting packages of building materials, objects and materials that are not
described in these operating instructions.
•
the attachment of loads with ropes, chains or similar to the device, except at the suspension
eyes/bolts provided for this purpose.
•
the gripping of loads with packaging film, as there is a risk of slipping.
•
Gripping goods with surfaces that reduce the coefficient of friction (e.g., chafed, treated, dirty,
frozen, coated, painted surfaces), as this reduces the coefficient of friction between the gripper jaws
and the goods to be gripped
•
Remedy: In case of contamination of any kind, it is mandatory to clean the gripper jaws and the
surface of the products in the area of the gripper jaws before each gripping process!
•
Gripping of gripped goods, which may deform or break due to the clamping force of the gripping
device!
•
the gripping of goods which show visible damage or which may break due to their own weight.
