Make sure the bonnets and the foam pads are clean and free from any kind of
dirt. Dirt of any kind will lead to scratches in the surface.
Some Notes on Restoring Car Finishes
Abrasive polishing agents (with abrasive particles)
Abrasives agents should only be used on heavily weathered finishes, because
they contain very coarse particles.
Polishes (with mild abrasives)
Polishes are offered in a wide range of varieties, e.g. fresh finishes or finishes in
various degrees of weathering or products combined with wax.
Both products should not be used too often, because the surfaces are eroded
every time the products are used. Usually the topcoat of modern cars is only
0.04 to 0.06 mm thick.
Always polish larger surfaces in sections of about one square metre. Use the
coarse bonnet to apply the polishing agent and then use the soft bonnet to buff
out the surface.
Cleaning and Storing the Polishing Machine
Use only a moist cloth to clean the housing of the polishing machine.
Do not immerse the polishing machine in water.
Do not use aggressive chemicals as benzene or thinner, which may dissolve
plastic parts, or abrasives.
Keep the ventilation openings always clean and free from obstructions. Clean
ventilation openings with a soft paint brush.
Store the car polisher in a dry place and protect it from dust and dirt.
Cleaning the Bonnets and the Foam Pads
Wash the terry-cloth bonnet and the polishing after each use. Only wash the
bonnets by hand at 40° and allow drying on fresh air.
Do not wash the bonnets in the washing machine.
Do not dry the bonnet in the dryer.
Only wash the foam pads by hand and after each use.
Do not squeeze the foam pads. Please Notice: The two-part, black foam pad
cannot be removed! Only lightly press down the foam pads by hand to re-
move remaining water.
