2. The chain teeth point alternately in
the opposite direction to each other.
First sharpen one set of teeth, then
turn the saw and sharpen the other set
of teeth. The teeth must be sharpened
from the side they point out towards.
Mark the first tooth with a felt-tip pen or
similar, so that you can see when you
have sharpened the teeth all the way
around on the chain.
3. Place the file against a tooth, and
push the file forward at an angle of 30°
in relation to the blade.
Do not pull the file back, but lift it up
and file forward again.
File each tooth with the same number
of strokes of the file.
4. The top of the file should protrude
approximately 1/5 up above the tooth.
5. Finally, file any riders using a depth-
gauge tool and a flat file. The riders
must all have the same height and be
approximately 0.65 mm lower than the
teeth.

Replacing the chain
When the chain is worn, replace it.
Remove the chain and blade as de-
scribed under "Assembly and Prepara-
tion".
Take the chain off the blade, and clean
the blade, protective cover and engine
housing thoroughly with compressed
air or a brush. Take special care to clean
the oil feed to the blade and the chain.
Check for blade and chain wheel wear
and replace if necessary.
Note! Do not dispose of used chains
in your domestic refuse. Dispose of
them correctly in accordance with local
legislation.
Fit the new chain onto the blade.
Checking the blade
Place a try square against the blade and
press it against the chain. If there is an
opening between the try square and the
blade, the blade is OK.
