e) Work safety
• Ensure that there is sufficient lighting.
• Ensure proper ventilation during soldering. Solder and flux vapours can be harmful
to your health.
• Wash your hands thoroughly after working with solder. This is particularly impor-
tant when using lead-based solder.
• Do not put soldering alloys into your mouth. Do not eat or drink during soldering.
• Wear suitable protective clothing and safety goggles when soldering. Liquid/
splashing solder may cause serious burns or eye damage.

Setting up
a) Soldering iron tips
Risk of burns! Allow the tip to cool down before attempting to replace it. Do not
overtighten the tip.
• Pointed tip: Used for point soldering and thin
wires.
• Flat tip: Used for light electrical work.
• Store any unused tips in the tip holder (5).
b) Preparing the sponge
Place the sponge (16) into the tray (15) and moisten it slightly before use.
Operation
Always keep the tip tinned before switching off or storing for any period of time.
Do not keep the iron on for an extended period of time as this will break down the
surface of the tip.
• Connect the power plug (11) to a mains power outlet.
• Turn the power ON: Flip the power switch (8) to the [ I ] position.
The LCD display (4) shows the preset target temperature for a few seconds, followed by the
actual working temperature of the soldering tip (12).
• Select the required working temperature by:
- Pressing one of the preset buttons (1), (2), or (3).
- Pressing the temperature increase [+] (9) or decrease button [-] (10).
The temperature can be adjusted in 10 °C increments. The working temperature
range is 200 to 450 °C.
• Turn the power OFF: Flip the power switch to the [O] position.
• Disconnect the power plug (11) from the mains power outlet, and allow the soldering iron to
completely cool down before storing away.
Troubleshooting
Problem
Soldering iron does
not heat up.
Tip does not get hot
enough.
Maintenance and care
• Never clean the tip with coarse, abrasive materials like files.
• If oxide forms on the tip, lightly rub with abrasive paper, wipe clean, then immediately reheat
• Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions as
