- In order to operate the hard disk the power supply unit which is included in the delivery is
required. Please only use this power supply unit to operate the mem.line.
- It is possible to operate the mem.line either the USB-Port or via the eSATA connection of
your PC.
- The takeMS mem.line will be recognized as an additional drive in "My Computer" of your PC. It
possibly occurs that the drive letter of the hard disk is already used on your PC. If this is the case,
please assign another drive letter for the new data storage device using the disk management
(administrative rights are required to do so).
-When using an e-SATA connection it may happen that your PC will not recognize the mem.line.
In this case, keep the mem.line connected and restart your PC. Now the mem.line should be
recognized. In order to be able to use the Hot-Plug function (Plug in and remove during operation)
of e-SATA it is necessary that your e-SATA connection is AHCI* compliant. AHCI* requires a
corresponding driver which generally is provided by your PC- or mainboard manufacturer.
-If your PC or mainboard does not support AHCI* you need to switch off your PC before
connecting and removing the mem.line if you use the e-SATA connection. An interruption of the
e-SATA connection without AHCI support may lead to data losses and might damage the mem.
line as well as other hard disks in your PC.
* AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) is an interface standard for Serial-ATA-Controllers. It
allows communicating with these controllers via the software.
In order to learn if your PC supports "AHCI" click on Start -> Run or press the windows key and R
simultaneously. Then enter devmgmt.msc and press the ENTER key. If you click on the character
+ in front of "THE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" you should find an entry which includes AHCI, e.g.
Intel(R) ICH9-SATA AHCI controller.
If any damages are occurring since you do not consider the above mentioned hints, the guarantee
for your takeMS b. line will be null and void.
DISPOSAL OF THE DEVICE.
Do not dispose of the device with the household waste. Request the corresponding municipal
organizations about the possibilities for the disposal of electronic devices.
