• Before sanding, make sure that any nails, screws
or other metal objects protruding from the
workpiece have been removed.
• Always inspect walls and ceilings before drilling
and screwing to avoid damage to potentially
concealed power cables and pipes.
• Use screw clamps or other suitable clamping
devices to fix the workpiece firmly to the surface
and to prevent it from slipping.
• Only use attachments that are supplied for the
Hammersmith MultiTool.
• Do not use broken, damaged or worn accessories
or attachments. Only use attachments that are in
good working condition.
• Always start the device in a suitable space,
and allow it to reach the optimum speed before
introducing it to the workpiece.
• Always remove the battery pack from the device
before changing attachments.
• Keep your hands out of the work area, and always
cut away from yourself and other people.
• Let the saw blade work and do not force the saw
against the workpiece. By adjusting the feed rate,
you avoid overheating the cutting edge of the saw
blade.
CUTTING PROCESS
DANGER:
A. Keep your hands away from the work area and the
sheet. Keep both hands are on the side handle or
on the motor housing. Holding the saw with both
hands will prevent you from cutting your fingers.
B. Do not reach under the workpiece. The protective
cover cannot protect you from the part of the saw
blade that is under the workpiece.
C. Never hold a workpiece to be cut using your hands
or over your leg. Fix the workpiece in place on a
stable surface. It is important to properly support
the workpiece in order to avoid physical contact,
jamming of the saw blade, and loss of control.
D. Always use a parallel or rule stop when cutting
(lengthways cut). This improves the cutting
precision and reduces the chances of the saw
blade seizing.

Causes of recoil and related warnings
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched, jammed,
or misaligned saw blade that causes the saw to lift
uncontrollably away from the workpiece and toward
the operator; If the saw blade becomes pinched or
trapped by the closing kerf, the saw blade will stall
and motor reaction will quickly drive the unit back
toward the operator; If the blade becomes twisted or
misaligned in the cut, the teeth on the trailing edge
of the blade can dig into the upper surface of the
wood, causing the blade to climb out of the kerf and
spring back toward the operator.
A. Hold the saw firmly with both hands and position
your arms to counter potential recoil. Stand so
that your body is laterally behind the saw blade,
but not directly behind it.
The recoil can cause the saw to jump backwards;
however, the operator can control the recoil forces
if the correct precautionary measures are taken.
B. If the blade seizes or you need to interrupt the
cutting work for any other reason, switch off the
saw and do not move it again until the blade has
come to a complete halt. Never try to loosen the
saw blade from the workpiece or to pull the saw
backwards while the saw blade is rotating - this
can lead to recoil.
Check the cause of the seizure and take
appropriate countermeasures.
C. If you restart the saw with the blade already in
the workpiece, centre the blade in the cutting
groove and ensure that the saw teeth are not
embedded in the material.
If the saw blade is seized, it can work its way up or
jump out of the workpiece when the saw starts up.
D. Do not use blunt or damaged saw blades.Blunt
or improperly used saw blades create a narrow
cutting groove and excessive friction, leading to
the blade seizing and recoil.
E. Do not use dull or damaged blades.
Unsharpened or improperly adjusted blades
create a narrow kerf that leads to excessive
friction, blade pinching and kickback.
F. The locking levers for adjusting the blade depth
and bevel must be tightened and secured before
cutting. If the saw blade setting is altered during
the cut, pinching and kickback may occur.
G. Use extra caution when sawing into existing
walls or other blind areas. The protruding part
of the saw blade can cut objects that can cause
kickback.
HOW THE LOWER PROTECTIVE COVER WORKS
A. Before each use, check whether the lower
protective cover closes properly. Do not use the
saw if the lower protective cover does not move
freely and does not close without a delay. Never
attempt to fix the lower protective cover in the
