• Any attempt to change the heating cable physically will invalidate the warranty. If the heating cable is cut,
it can no longer be repaired.
• No extension cord can be used in conjunction with the device.
• The heating cable must not be in contact with itself or second heating cable at any point. (Fig. 3)
• The thermostat should be placed at the coldest point and out of direct sunlight. The thermostat should not
be permanently in water. The access line must not be in water or in direct sunlight. Do not affix the hea-
ting cable with adhesive tape where the adhesive has an aggressive effect.
• Avoid damaging the heating cable through sharp edges. (Use edge protectors.)
• The mains plug must only be used in dry spaces.
• Do not lay the heating cable twisted.
• Do not lay the heating cable along building parts that are heated, hot or separately heated (e.g. chimneys,
hot pipes).
• Never install the heating cable in walls, floors or ceilings.
• The cable and its connections to the thermostat and power cord must not be exposed to tensile, compres-
sive or torsional stresses. Never separate, open or damage the system by force, as this can compromise
the device's functioning and invalidate the warranty. The IP X7 (waterproof) protection class would also no
longer be guaranteed.
• For safety reasons, metal pipes, protective tubes and sheathing must be earthed before installation. Ensure
every metal part is earthed before beginning installation. The entire system must be checked for consisten-
cy and any necessary additional earthing connection must be created.
• Do not install the same heating cable simultaneously on different pipes. This could cause the heating cable
to overheat and lead to fire or electric shock.
• Never install the heating cable on a plastic pipe unless it is ensured that the pipe is always filled with
water.
• If the heating cable is to be used to keep a plastic water pipe free from frost, the plastic water pipe must
be completely wrapped with an aluminium adhesive tape (Kerbl item no.: 222809) before installation and
must only be used on temperature resistant water pipes approved for hot water. (Fig. 5)
• The heating cable and the entire unit are maintenance-free but should still be regularly visually checked, at
least once a year. In the case of visible damage or wear (cracks, cuts, deformation, fragility, charred spots
or discolouration) to the insulation, the entire heating cable must be replaced.
• Disconnect the heating cable from the mains before starting a visual check.
• If the fuse (RCD) of the heating cable has tripped, the fuse must not be reset until the cause has been
identified and the entire device and the installation checked for potential damage or wear by a qualified
electrician.
• The heating cable must not be installed at outside temperatures of < +5 °C.
• If the heating cable becomes stiff (due to cold), then it should be unwound and connected for a few minu-
tes until it becomes warm and pliable, before it can be installed.
• Never connect the heating cable to the power supply when it is still wound up. (Fig. 4)
• The heating cable and the power cable must be protected from damage and wear, e.g. through nibbling
animals, ice, icicles, mechanical stress etc..
• Do not staple, nail or otherwise affix the cable using unsuitable materials.
• The heating cable must not be connected outside of the heating cable (unplug it).
• The insulation must be no thicker than 13 mm. Inordinate insulation of the heating cable leads to overhea-
ting. You must ensure that the insulation is not flammable. (Fig. 9 and 11)
• The power supply cord of this device cannot be replaced. The device must be discarded if the power supply
cord becomes damaged.
• Please observe these safety notes and warnings. Retain the safety notes and warnings for later extension
or monitoring of the cable installation and give the instructions to the person responsible for the regular
visual inspections.
