PROFESSIONAL STEP LADDERS
CHECKS BEFORE USING THE LADDER
Always be careful; never climb step ladders when under the influence of alcohol, medication or other
agents that could influence your ability to react.
Make sure the step ladder is collapsed during transport, and that it is firmly fastened.
Upon receiving the step ladder and before every use, check all parts of the step ladder for damage/wear
or missing parts like protective feet, a tool tray (only applicable with single step ladders) and make sure
it is functioning properly. Temporary repairs are not permitted; all repairs should be performed by an
expert mechanic. Never use damaged step ladders!
When making professional use of Eurostairs step ladders, you are required to subject it to regular checks.
Make sure that the step ladder is suited for the intended usage. Never use a step ladder as a scaffold or
to bridge a gap. Only ever use step ladders in a freestanding position.
Perform a risk analysis before every use of the step ladder if required to do so by the applicable
legislation.
As much as possible, keep step ladder free of dirt, such as wet paint, mud, snow and grease.
Perform maintenance on the step ladder as outlined in the applicable regulations.
Never use a damaged step ladder.
Do not wear loose items of clothing or jewellery when using the step ladder. These may end up caught in
the step ladder as you climb, putting you in danger of falling off.
PLACING THE LADDER
Before you mount the ladder, make sure it has unfolded fully by pressing the platform at the top down
to its fully horizontal position, producing an audible click, and putting tension on the straps that connect
the two sides of the step ladder (for models that have said straps).
Only ever place the step ladder on a sturdy, stable, horizontal, non-slippery surface, with no risk of the
ladder' s legs sinking or slipping. Never place step ladders on tables, boxes, upturned crates or other
unstable surfaces, such as muddy soil or loose sand. All four of the ladder' s feet must make full contact
with the surface at all times; you are not permitted to use one of the rungs to lean the step ladder on.
Eurostairs aluminium step ladders do conduct electricity, so make sure there is no danger of an electrical
charge. Never use these step ladders when working with any kind of voltage.
Never use these stairs with wind speeds of 6 and up on the Beaufort scale, and if possible, close any
doors and windows (except emergency exits) in the immediate surroundings.
Once it has been set up, do not leave the step ladder unattended. For example, kids playing may attempt
to climb it and harm themselves.
Never move the step ladder with someone on it, or attempt moving it from a higher vantage point.
Do not place tools or other materials at the bottom of the step ladder where you may trip on them as
you come down.
