We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by incor-
rect handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty will be void
in such cases.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible because of
safety and approval reasons (CE).
• The built-in power adaptor's construction complies with protection class I. The power adap-
tor is only to be used with an earthed mains socket connected to the public power supply.
• Only use the product in dry indoor areas.
The product must not get damp or wet as this may damage it, danger of a fatal electric shock!
• The device is not a toy. Keep devices that operate on the mains voltage out of the reach of
children! Therefore, be especially careful when children are around. Use the product out of
the reach of children.
• Do not unplug the mains adaptor from the mains socket by pulling the cable; do not remove

Opening the drive enclosure, installation of a drive
Caution!
Disconnect the drive enclosure from the mains voltage first before opening it! Unplug
the mains power plug from the drive enclosure! Just switching off at the mains switch is
not sufficient!
Otherwise mortal danger by an electric shock!
• Remove the two screws from the rear plastic cover. Following that, the housing lid can easily be removed
from the bottom part.
• Insert a SATA drive (e.g. CD, DVD or Bluray burner) into the bottom part. Connect the SATA/power plug to
the corresponding connector on the drive.
If required, you can plug the 4-pole flat-pin plug for audio signals to the corresponding connector of the drive:
Red cable of the 4-pole flat-pin plug = right audio signal, on the drive labelled with „R"
White cable of the 4-pole flat-pin plug = left audio signal, on the drive labelled with „L"
Please note:
The audio signal is only available at the output of the CD/DVD drive when playing back „real"
audio CDs. When playing DVDs, MP3 CDs, data CDs and so on, no audio signal is available at
the drive's output since the decoding only takes place after the data transfer in the PC.
• Now fasten the drive to the bottom part with four M3-screws.
• Replace the housing lid, slide it from the back onto the bottom part.
• Lastly, the plastic cover that you removed before, is to be screwed tightly on the housing's rear side by using
two screws.
Connection
The connection of the drive enclosure to the mains voltage is only permitted if the enclo-
sure is assembled and bolted down as described above.
Otherwise mortal danger by electric shock!
• Switch the drive enclosure off (switch position „O"; mains switch on the rear side of the housing).
• Connect the mains socket on the drive enclosure with a mains outlet via the supplied mains cable.
• Connect the USB connection of the drive enclosure with a USB cable to a free USB port of your computer.
• Switch on the drive enclosure (switch position "I").
• Windows now recognises the drive automatically and completes the driver installation. All drivers are
already contained in Windows (at least Windows ME is required).

Cleaning
Before cleaning the device, disconnect it from the power supply. Use a clean, dry soft cloth for cleaning.
Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, since these may cause discolouration to the housing.
Tips & Notes
• USB2.0 devices are backwards compatible. That means that the drive enclosure with the installed CD/DVD
drive also functions on conventional, „slow" USB1.1 ports – but then only at the maximum USB1.1 speed
(effective approx. 800kByte/s to 1MByte/s).
Several MBytes/sec is possible with USB 2.0.
• The scope of delivery does not contain the recording software; it must be ordered separately; the same
applies to play-back software for DVDs.
