Connection and commissioning

The air supply to the grinding spindle
must be controlled by means of an
external device, as the grinder does not
include a respective valve/switch.
When the compressed air line is
connected, the spindle begins to rotate
immediately. Therefore close the control
valve before connecting the compressed
air line.
Connection to compressed air supply line
The compressed air used to power the BIAX pneumatic
grinding spindle must be clean and free of water! To
ensure this, connect the machine to a maintenance unit
with water trap! The maintenance unit should be installed
as close as possible to the grinding spindle.
•
Prior to connecting the hose, blow through it to
remove any dirt!
•
Connect the pneumatic grinding spindle (A) to the
maintenance unit (D1 - D2), using the hose kit (B)
and the threaded nipple (C) (see Fig. 1).
•
Mount maintenance unit (D1 - D3) in the following
sequence: water trap (D1) - pressure controller (D2)
- aerosol lubricator (D3).
•
At the maintenance unit, set the operating pressure
to max. 6 bar. Check oil level and add oil, if
necessary.
•
Set the maintenance unit to an air lubrication rate of
2 to 3 drops of oil per minute.

Tool change
Before changing the tool, disconnect the
machine from the compressed air supply
line!
RB 4102:
•
Use the chuck key (I) supplied with the machine to
open and close the drill chuck.
•
Insert the tool as far as possible into the chuck and
secure it tightly!
OPEN
CLOSE
R 4102 and R 4105:
Use only fitting and undamaged jaw spanners to change
the tool, as the chuck might otherwise be damaged.
Using the supplied spanners (E+F), hold the spindle (H)
and open or close the chuck (G) (right-hand thread)
(see Abb. 2).

Never leave spanners or wrenches
attached to the tool! Before starting the
machine, check that all spanners and
wrenches have been removed!
