The chain should always be well-oiled, if necessary soak the chain in bio-
degradable chain saw oil before starting work. While using the saw, make
sure that the chain is always well-soaked in oil. If this is not the case,
manually oil the chain.
After each use, lift off the black plastic cover and clean the area under it.
Also clean the ventilation holes after each use.
To keep the branch cutter at top performance the chain must be sharp. If
you notice that the branch cutter's performance is not as it should be and
the chain does not eat into the wood by itself, the chain should be sharp-
ened. Either use the Westfalia saw chain sharpener or have the chain
sharpened by a professional. When the chain is ground down to the wear
mark it should be replaced. Saw chains are available from Westfalia.

Kickback

The electric branch cutter is equipped with a low-kickback chain. And from
an engineering point of view everything was done to keep kickback low as
possible. Nevertheless, some kickback can not be avoided when cutting
with the upper tip of the blade.
Be prepared for some kickback when using this area of the blade or hitting
another branch with this area. Always hold the unit firmly in both hands.
