II. PARTICULAR REGULATIONS
1
Object of approval and area of application
(1) This General Construction Inspection Approval relates to
fixed, rectangular containment devices of polyethylene (PE-HD)
in accordance with annex 1, which are manufactured from tablets
using the deep drawing process. The containment devices are
provided with profiled bottoms and walls and can be equipped
with insertable hot-dipped galvanised steel gratings (as a bearing
surface).
(2) The product designation with the corresponding containment
volume of the containment device is as follows:
- PE-insert trough 30 l (30 litre)
- PE-insert trough 40 l (40 litre)
(3) The containment devices may be positioned in building
spaces in sufficiently load bearing racks or as an insert in metallic
containment devices, but not in zone 0 and 1 areas with a risk of
explosion. They must be protected against impact by vehicles, for
example by a protected installation or use of a collision guard.
(4) Outdoor installation in accordance with paragraph (3) may only
take place if the installation location is sufficiently protected against
the weather (precipitation direct UV-radiation) for example by a
covering roof.
(5) The containment devices may be used for the storage, in
containers and vessels, of water-polluting liquids with flash points
greater than 100 °C.
(6) Liquids contained in list 40-1.1
Structural Engineering with a reduction factor A2 = 1.0 and liquids
which can be assigned to the following named groups, require no
special proof of the leak-tightness and durability of the PE-material
of the containment device:
- aqueous organic acid solutions up to 10 %
- Mineral acids up to 20 % as well as acidic hydrolytic salts in
aqueous solution (pH < 6), except for hydrofluoric acid and
oxidising acids and their salts
- inorganic bases as well as alkaline hydrolytic salts in aqueous
solutions (pH > 8), with the exception of ammonia solutions and
oxidising salt solutions (e.g. hypochlorite).
- Solutions of inorganic non-oxidising salts with a pH-value
between 6 and 8.
(7) When storing media as contained under (6) above, that are
governed by the Hazardous Materials Act, TRGS 514
are to be observed.
(8) This General Construction Inspection Approval satisfies the
obligation to obtain a suitability determination for water regulations
and the qualification approval under § 19 h of the Water Resources
Act
.

Construction product stipulations
2.1
Properties and constituents
2.1.1 Materials
Only tablets produced from moulding material with a General
Construction Inspection Approval for the intended application
(deep drawing) may be processed as moulding material. Gratings
are to be made using hot-dipped galvanised steel, material
S235JR as per DIN EN 10025, with material number 1.0037 in
accordance with annex 1.1, sheet 3.
2.1.2 Construction details
Construction details must conform to annexes 1, 1.1 sheet 1 to 3
and 1.2 sheet 1 to 3.
2.1.3 Proof of stability
The containment devices are stable for the area of application
specified in section 1 at operating temperatures up to 30 °C
(temporarily 40 °C).
2.1.4 Fire behaviour
The material polyethylene PE-HD is, in the thicknesses occurring
in the application, normally inflammable (class B2 according to
DIN 4102-1
).
5
2.1.5 Safe use
Changes to the detailed construction and materials require a
change to this General Construction Inspection Approval.
2.2
Manufacture, packaging, transport, storage and labelling
2.2.1 Manufacture
(1) Manufacture must be in accordance with the manufacturer's
description filed with the DIBt.
(2) In addition to the measures described in the manufacturing
description, the containers must comply with the requirements of
Annex 2, Sec. 1.
The containers may only be manufactured in factory 4* of
Chemowerk GmbH.
2.2.2 Packaging, transport, storage
Packaging, transport and storage must conform to Annex 4, Sec.2.
2.2.3 Labelling
(1) The containment devices must be labelled with the conformity
mark (Ü-mark) in compliance with the -conformity labelling
directives of the German States. The mark may only be used if the
requirements of section 2.3 (proof of conformity) are fulfilled.
(2) Moreover, the manufacturer of the containment devices must
label them clearly and permanently with the following details:
- Manufacturing number;
- Year of manufacture;
- Containment volume (as per section 5.1.3)
- Material (PE-HD);
- Loading bearing capacity of the grating (only where gratings are
fitted)
- "Media stored according to the General Construction Inspection
Approval no. Z-40
