Donning
Ensure, that the buoyancy collar is the correct size before using. Place the open collar
around the neck so that the oral valve is on the upper left‑hand side (viewed from the
wearer). Close the snap fastener.
Inflation
Inflate the buoyancy collar via the oral valve. Therefor remove the durst cap from oral infla‑
tion valve. Put the dust cap back in position after inflation.
Handling after use
After use the buoyancy collar should be thoroughly rinsed and hung up to dry. Deflate via
the oral valve turning the dustcap around and depress the valve insert. Smooth out the air
from the collar.
Inspections
The buoyancy collar should be checked at regular intervals. The following inspections show
the readiness of the buoyancy collar.
Leakage test
Fully inflate the buoyancy collar via the oral valve and leave inflated for approx. 16 hours. If
the collar shows signs of deflation after this period, it must be replaced.
Testing the oral valve
Depress the valve insert with the turned dust cap. Remove dustcap, the valve has to close
properly.
Cleaning instructions
Cleaning can be best done while the collar is inflated. Rinse with fresh water and hang up to
dry. If necessary the collar can be cleaned with 0.5% disinfecting solution (Sterilium).
If the SECUMAR 9S is used in hospitals, rehabilitation centres or similar facilities the valid
hygienic regulations have to be observed.
The collar has to dry completely after cleaning.
Storage
Always store the buoyancy collar in a dry condition. Protect from permanent sunlight.
