1. Important safety instructions

WARNING! Risk of explosion
Do not use the unit to charge dry cell batteries, which are typically used with household appliances. These batteries can burst and
cause injury to people and damage to property. Only use the unit to charge lead-acid batteries / gel batteries!
WARNING! Risk of electrocution
• Do not operate the unit if there is damage to the cable or plug, or if the unit has suffered a hard blow, been dropped or damaged
in any other way. Do not dismantle the unit. Incorrect installation can result in electrocution and/or fire.
• Never immerse the unit in water or expose it to rain or snow. Never use the product if it is wet.
• Disconnect the unit from the mains power supply before commencing maintenance or cleaning work.
WARNING! Risk of explosive gases
• Working in the vicinity of a lead-acid battery is dangerous. Batteries produce explosive gases during operation.
For this reason, it is of the utmost importance that you read this manual and follow the instructions exactly.
• Follow these instructions to minimise the risk of the battery exploding. Read and follow any further instructions published
by other manufacturers, particularly by the manufacturers of units that you wish to operate in the vicinity of the battery.
• This unit contains parts that can generate sparks or electrical arcs. Therefore do not leave the charger operating in a sealed room
nor close to combustible material.
• This unit is not suitable for use by children and should only be used by adults.
CAUTION! To reduce the risk of personal injury or property damage
• Use the plug and not the cable to disconnect the power cable from the mains power supply.
• Never use the charger to jump start or charge frozen batteries.
• When working with lead-acid batteries, always make sure that immediate first aid is guaranteed in the event of an accident or emergency.
• Always wear safety goggles when working with this unit. Contact with battery acid can cause blindness and/or severe burns.
Familiarise yourself with first aid measures before commissioning the unit.
• Ensure that you always have fresh water and soap to hand. Wash immediately if your skin comes into contact with battery acid.
• In the event that your skin or clothing comes into contact with battery acid, wash off immediately with water
and soap for a minimum of 10 minutes and seek medical help immediately.
• Never smoke in the vicinity of the unit, a vehicle battery, engine or charger and avoid sparks or open flames.
• Remove personal items, such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches, when working with a lead-acid battery.
A lead-acid battery can create a short circuit, which is strong enough to weld around a ring or similar metal object, causing burns.
• Never allow battery acid to come into contact with this unit.
• Never operate this unit in a closed room or with reduced ventilation.
